I think a Fury rematch is a decent excuse. Many other Boxers would forget the rematch to get the chance to take on Joshua for his belts for a **** load of money. Actually i can only think of 1 who wouldnt. But Wilder and Fury fought to a draw (Fury won) unfinished business, a score to be settled. That is the only excuse i can accept. But Wilder is quite clearly ducking Joshua and even admitting it without using the actual word, when he says out loud, out of his own massive mouth in interviews posted all over the world via social media that he wants no part of Joshua and isnt interested in his belts how can we still scratch our heads wondering about who does and who doesnt want this fight.

Wilders still talking about this rematch but we all know it isnt happening, its not come fully to the surface yet but Fury wants it later and he wants it in the UK and Wilder will refuse to travel. Breazeale v Wilder is already getting set in motion by Finkel although Breazeale and his team wont hear about this for a while yet.

It isn't about the money as much as it is about control of the promotion and the event. It's why name fighters that are not necessarily the cash cow choose to fight for less money where they can control the environment .

It's also relative. As many posters have said throughout the years its not how much but what percentage of the total. So while Manny and wilder, for example, were offered more than they ever made, they and their teams run the numbers and decide more is not a fair percentage of the overall take and they refuse the offer, which the a sides already expected.
my only agenda here is having good boxing discussion while exposing the significantly flawed and hypocritical logic that wilder fans like to use to defend him.

you mention control and promotions, but so far only one side is making legit offers and trying to have conversations. if its about controls or whatever else, then have the productive conversations and negotate properly.

the whole percentage deal is a red herring for people that may not understand math. if he's making out over twice his max payday as the WBC heavyweight champ, chances are its not the equivalent of some meager percentage split.
in any case, percentage split offers have been made already. wilder's team won't even respond. and when they do, it's with demands of 50-50 or at one point, 60-40 in wilder's favour. the real is out there, if people are willing to be honest with themselves.

        Absolutely this.

It's quite possible, Wilder being not very smart, that he is believing **** that Finkel is whispering in his ear to stop him from taking the fight.

"Hey Doentay, we can get more money from these guys"

"Hey Deontay, don't go to UK, you'll get robbed"

"Leave this to me Deontay, this Hearn guy is trying to pick your pocket but I got this under control for ya."

And so on. The yanks do not want a Brit coming into their turf and running things, and it is not a stretch of the imagination to think that Wilder is not afraid to fight, but is being manipulated to duck, which he is clearly doing.

Either that, or he is plain scared of AJ, there's no other explanation. This fight should have been made, and Hearn and Joshua have moved heaven and earth trying to get Wilder to sign, all they get in return is silence.

I'm enjoying seeing how Wilder fans are skirting around this. They are really showing to be dumber than him.
To be fair there are many US based boxing channels now calling out Wilder for his ducking. That said, there are still a good many hangers on trying to rationalize the silence from Finkel and Wilder, which is bordering on gross unprofessionalism.
