Comments Thread For: Jermall Charlo Post Korobov: 'We Want Golovkin, Canelo'

I don't see a problem with Charlo asking for the best and most marketable fighters, who wouldn't want those big paydays? I agree that Jermall has done near/close to jack squat at 160, but that last fight was pretty close, although I had Korobov winning by 2 rounds, I understand why others give it to Charlo.
If I was Charlo I would pursue the same route.Comment

amateurs don't mean anything, stop it. Would you put weight that because Danny Garcia beat Crawford in the ams that he would beat Crawford again? Point system and headgear don't mean anything in the pros.
Why didn't Abel Sanchez, Loeffler, or Gennady make headlines wanting Andy Lee when he won the WBO belt, for the fight that postponed initially?Comment

Look your asking if the fighter thinks he could beat an opponent he already beat in the amatures. I think it's a safe bet that the answer is yes. Whether you or anybody else has doubts is irrelevant. Your asking about what the fighter thinks and the answer is almost certainly yes. They were scheduled to fight untill Golovkin's father died.amateurs don't mean anything, stop it. I agree with you. A fighter like Golovkin has to and most likely believe he would win against a guy like Andy Lee, but the question is how decisive. I insinuated his handlers. Mate, when Lee won the WBO, isn't it common sense for a gang whom cheered for all the belts at least make headlines for Lee? They've got nothing to lose since top fighters have many options. Its just rather inconsistent that GGG's team didn't push an agenda for Lee's WBO when he had it, considering they originally were planned to fight. I call a spade a spade, and yes, Lee is a Southpaw.Look your asking if the fighter thinks he could beat an opponent he already beat in the amatures. I think it's a safe bet that the answer is yes. Ha ha yes, I believe Lee is and was a solid fighter with a great right hook, but I'll never understand why so many Americans seem to rate him higher that Macklin, Murray or Barker (or Geale for that matter) whom the rest of the World all considered roughly on a level... exposure bias perhaps, or being a protege of Steward... or maybe simply because they only ever saw much of the other guys when they were brought in to fight Maravilla or GGG and getting stopped?
There's no reason to think Golovkin would have been any more worried about fighting Lee than he was about Macklin or Murray, both of whom I'm sure he had a healthy respect for. Lee would rightly be considered more dangerous with that fierce hook and the straight left, but was also widely considered less durable - certainly than Macklin or Murray.
Golovkin would have been a wide - almost prohibitive betting favourite against Lee and with good reason. Korobov was outboxing Lee comfortably until he got caught, and Golovkin gives nothing away to Matvey in terms of skill, applies way more pressure and is far, far more durable.Comment

Brian Vera was always a 168 fighter imo, a bit too much for Lee at the time. And Chavez Jr. in my opinion was the biggest grockel in the sport when he was Champion. I feel he was juiced to the gills against Lee.Ha ha yes, I believe Lee is and was a solid fighter with a great right hook, but I'll never understand why so many Americans seem to rate him higher that Macklin, Murray or Barker (or Geale for that matter) whom the rest of the World all considered roughly on a level... exposure bias perhaps, or being a protege of Steward... or maybe simply because they only ever saw much of the other guys when they were brought in to fight Maravilla or GGG and getting stopped?
