Comments Thread For: 2019 Fights: A Realistic Wish List For The New Year

There was a little of everything for boxing fans in 2018, including evenly-matched fights, upsets, and highlight-reel knockouts. Thank goodness boxing promoters worked together to make these fights or sanctioning bodies mandated the fights to be made. Could we get more like these in 2019? Absolutely.

I'd gladly watch any of these fights in 2019.

these are good with me. Regarding Farmer v Tank, I can't see Farmer being able to stop him.

2018 was a let down compared to 2017. That list is shooting very low. Hardly any really exciting match-ups or FOTY candidates.

It seems the media has finally taken control and is maneuvering to fool fans that the big fights are just around the corner...yes like they always have - but now they're perfecting the art of manipulation.

As a fan, I was almost disgusted with what we were fed at times in 2018 - especially at HW and MW. absolute garbage.

They are conditioning us to accept the normalcy that the big fights take 'marinating' (thanks Oscar), and it's better to wait until two great fighters are nearly 40 (or one is) because it's all about protecting your cashcow.

Nearly all young fighters want to emulate the idiot Floyd, from his philly shell stance to pull counters and cherry-picking fighters while talking low brow trash that Muhammad Ali wouldn't even dignify.
A bit like how hip hop went commercial and created a bunch of fakes and hype jobs.

            What a disgrace.

A**hole of the year: Al Haymon
Hype Job of the year: the Charlos.

Joshua vs Big Baby is a fight I might be more interested in then I rightfully should be, but I really feel like Baby has upset potential vs anyone at HW. I think he'll better handle his weight when he gets a big fight so I'm less concerned about him coming in too fat vs Joshua than some others are. He does still have a lot of question marks on him & what he can handle doe, but offensively I think he's capable of KOing Joshua, Wilder or anyone else if the opportunity presents itself & my feeling is he's durable enough to get to a point where an opportunity does present itself.

Hoping Joshua fights him next cuz thats among the top 3 fights I wanna see Joshua in (Wilder & Fury being the other two obviously).

Why so unambitious? There are so many missing, vs some of the listed ones being very weak... Munguia seriously? I like the kid but he's hardly top anything yet.

Joshua needs to fight either Wilder or Fury.

Loma vs Mikey... regardless of what happens vs Spence.

Ain't it a lil early for that? Feel like Teofimo needs another year on him minimum. He's not even busted his top ten guy cherry yet let alone fight a guy you could argue is #1 in all of boxing.

                  4) Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Errol Spence Jr.
And good luck wishing on this one lol. 2 divisions & platforms separate these guys. Thats a hell of a hurdle to climb in 12 months.

I feel its a very solid bet Spence vs Crawford doesn't happen this year & with Thurman's activity level I don't think it'd be a bad bet to say Spence vs Thurman doesn't even happen in 2019.

Thinking the Pacquiao vs Broner winner might be fighting Spence doe. Thats what I'd aim for if I'm Spence anyway if these other don't play ball like they haven't been. By 2020 the tables will be flipped & Thurman is gonna be wanting to steal some of Spence's shine & be the inarguable B side.

I rather see Jaime Mungia against Black Magic who is also promoted by Golden Boy promotions.
That would be a war with not much defense,...
