There are different reasons fighters asked for catchweights. Sometimes it’s to make a great fight possible, other times is to clearly gain an advantage. The advantage doesn’t have to be physical, but could also be physiological. Cotto used to do this with opponents. He’d have a catch weight just to show he was the A side and could force any demands on his opponent.. Canelo would so the same.

They have all done it, which is why I pointed it out to the poster who was criticizing Pacquiao for it.

No, he didn’t get lucky but Floyd did fight at a catch weight.
You can’t criticize one guy (Pacquiao) for fighting at a catch weight and not another (Mayweather) for doing the same.

          You gotta be consistent.

Pac had like 8-9 consecutive weight-affected fights

              hence the term..... " manny-weight "

where was the consistency then ?

I told everyone that manny-weight was a bad idea lol

Catchweights have been around long before.
                      Your statement is ridiculous.

No one had a problem accepting DLH fighting Hopkins at a catch weight. Or Hopkins fighting Pavlik and Winky Wright at a catchweight. Or were they fighting at Hopkins weight?
They made catchweights to make the damn fights possible. And no one had issues.
