Now, I should point out that he was still in the corner for Davis last fight despite not training him in camp. So he got some sort of check, but definitely not head trainers worth of check. But I have a feeling he would even risk any type of check from Davis to look after his kids he has at his gym. Just listening to his interviews, definitely seems like a good dude.

A man needs to eat, but the commitments you choose to make are the ones that tell us most. Human beings are funny creatures - we can justify almost anything to ourselves if we choose - but a man who sticks to his word is more likely to live easier with himself (at least in my experience) and that ain't something you can really buy.

And honestly he's probably making good money or at least solid money even without the Davis checks. I mean he was training Davis when he was a kid so it's not like he was making any money off of him then. In fact, he was probably paying out of pocket for Davis and other amateur kids to get them to the national tournaments.

Ford made a lot of mistakes growing up as he was in the drug game, but is making the most out of his life now. Helping kids out is the pretty much the best thing he can do.

Off topic, but he inspired the character Cutty from The Wire lol.

I felt against Pedraza he started out guns and blazing but got a bit tired in middle of the fight and let Pedraza back in the fight for a few rounds. But can a smaller Mares really put on the type of pressure needed from round 1 to 12? Doubtful, and if Mares sits back, then Davis uses his speed advantage to pick him apart. Davis showed against Walsh he can fight a patient disciplined fight when he has to. He should get Mares out of there within 6-7 rounds.

What I want is Davis vs Machado. Now that fight answers A LOT of questions about Davis.
          Showed against Walsh?

          Who is Walsh?

Hmm. Thought I felt something in what you said about the dude... using, dealing or both.. surviving that shit makes you think about what's important in life.

Don't disagree that he's not top level or anything. But the point still stands.

And btw, when that fight got signed, people weren't looking at that fight being as big of a mismatch as it turned out. You had guys like Freddie Roach and others saying Walsh would beat Davis.
