Nah, Davis has legit skills. He can be KO happy at times, but his timing is great and his punch variety is legit. The questions I have about him is how he can take a high paced fight. I felt against Pedraza he started out guns and blazing but got a bit tired in middle of the fight and let Pedraza back in the fight for a few rounds. But can a smaller Mares really put on the type of pressure needed from round 1 to 12? Doubtful, and if Mares sits back, then Davis uses his speed advantage to pick him apart. Davis showed against Walsh he can fight a patient disciplined fight when he has to. He should get Mares out of there within 6-7 rounds.

What I want is Davis vs Machado. Now that fight answers A LOT of questions about Davis.

Well yeah, and I don't like the fact he is ditching Cunningham. That guy is a disciplinary that doesn't take any crap. Guys like Davis and Broner need someone like that.

Now, no disrespect to Calvin Ford who I have great respect for, but it's clear Davis is able to slack off with him. Maybe because he's known him since he was a kid and Ford can't get after him like say Cunningham can.

Yes, last fight was in Florida. And Davis made weight easy. Cunningham has that military background and will make sure his fighters take no shortcuts and make weight properly. Maybe Davis didn't like how in control Cunningham was? Either way, I'd have no worries about him making weight if he was still with Cunningham. Because he's not? It's anyone's guess if he makes weight or not.

Interesting. I thought his coach Calvin was in the corner also. Only thing I can think of is the price difference between the two trainers. I’m sure Cunningham charges more than coach Calvin. I do agree he was in great shape he looked like a new person at the weigh ins, no body fat.

Calvin will always be in his corner, but he can't leave Baltimore for too long. This is why I respect Calvin so much. When they asked him once would you move to Vegas or another place that would benefit Davis more? He said I can't, I have too many kids I look after in my gym. Think about what he just said. He is willing to risk the biggest payday from being Davis trainer to look after his kids that he trains. Dude is a legitimately good man.

But Davis camp took place in Florida and he was pretty much locked in the house with Broner where he only got to train. I mean Davis does have a newborn so maybe he has to stay home and can't leave his baby? That could be it as well.
