RJJ ‘struggled’ with Griffin similarly to the way Mayweather ‘struggled’ with Judah: the first 4-5 rounds were competitive before the better talent started taking over.

Jones dropped Griffin in the 7th before having him basically done in the 9th.

IMO, the Ward/Jones matchup probably looks similar to Jones/Hopkins I. RJJ too fast and Ward not having enough offense to keep up. 8-4/9-3 RJJ in a rugged rough UD. Might even drop Ward once.

Fact is soggy wouldn't fight him. He stayed in Oakland for easy chump change and nobody misses his candy ass.

Ward was very good. Perhaps even great.

But RJJ was the best of the best. RJJ beats Ward, 100 times out of 100.

A past prime RJJ beat a extremely motivated (has been dreaming of a RJJ fight since they were kids in Florida) southpaw Tarver after dropping 25 pounds of muscle.

He did this by willing himself to take the championship rounds after investing heavily in taking out Tarver’s body.

Had he retired right after that fight, we’d be talking about RJJ as our generation’s Sugar Ray Robinson.

I LOVE Andre Ward, but he aint beating Roy Jones. Period.

the criteria was prime not 40 years old and should have been retired years ago. Calzaghe outpoints (not destroys, he was featherfist) anyone who is shot to shyt for sure, but who doesnt? With feint praise my friend, you utterly damn Joe. Hes not in these guys league.
