Not necessarily. Most industry know that all boxers take supplements. Nothing wrong with supplements, but because their contamination rate is 90% positive to have contamination from banned substances in the trace amounts, fighters’ handlers make sure tha they’re off the supplements close to the contracts finalized for advanced testing, particularly high level Star fighters.

All boxers would have an adverse finding in a trace amount if not 365. That’s because of contamination, and doesn’t mean they’re cheaters, but industry takes strict liability seriously.

I think Clenbuterol was a cover up. Or else you would’ve had guys like Andy Foster caping for Saul Alvarez in headlines to fight in California, the same way he caped for Francisco Vargas as well as Margaret Goodman, all who acknowledged Francisco having double of Canelo’s amount and 45 days away from the fight. He was given a green light to fight. If you apply that to Canelo, why didn’t they cape for him? VADA did not test Vargas 3 days apart when he had 1.2ng. If they did, Breadman knows that he would’ve tested “positive twice” since the halftime depletion rate would not have ridden the system. Again? Vargas has twice Canelo’s amount.

It’s all politics, and industry can’t talk about it. It’s the most pragmatic approach when talking about Clenbuterol at the trace level.

Look at Jon Jones. Canelo depleted his Clen consistently in the matter of 3 days. Jon Jones still had picograms in his body from an initial low trace amount a year previously.

Which would u believe more? Canelo’s depleted rate of Picograms in 3 days leaving the system as it should or Jon Jones with picograms not leaving the body since 2017? And Andy Foster capped for Jon Jones to fight at his venue.

It goes to show that Oscar had a lot of dirt that it’s most likely he couldn’t defend Canelo.

That's an interesting little snippet which I never got to the bottom of, actually. Of course you are correct that the 'two failed tests' were in fact measuring the same exposure to the drug, but there is a bit of a mystery in the numbers. The accepted half life of Clen in humans is taken to be about 35 to 36 hours, so in the three days between his test you'd have expected the concentrations of Clen to have decreased by a factor of 4 (quartered) when in fact it had dropped by a factor of 10, (from 600pg/ml to about 60pg/ml) indicating that either Canelo has an unusual metabolism, or - just possibly - that he was taking measures to try to flush his system of the drug after the first test. Again I ain't got anything beyond speculation, but if he had been flushing his system it would presuppose that he knew the drug was there in the first place. Just a thought.

Nobody is dis*****g that defence isn't a factor in deciding who wins a fight but boxing is a combat sport. Landing punches on your opponent is the biggest scoring factor in deciding who wins the round. You can't win a round by not landing punches despite the Willie Pep fairy tale.
