There's nothing wrong with Wilder's statement.

He's right.

In 2018, no heavyweight faced stiffer competition than Deontay.

And, he came thru it still wearing his belts, regardless of what your opinion is about what happened in the fights.

While rankings are often a joke, it is noteworthy that every ratings outfit now has Ortiz/Fury ranked higher than Parker/Povetkin.

Those who want to note what AJ did in past years are entitled to do so and they have a point as well. Certainly, even a faded Wlad possibly trumps most of Wilder's resume up to that point...but, THAT Wlad had lost outright to Fury so some of even that argument loses steam. And, whatever Whyte's ranking is now, he certainly wasn't that well regarded when AJ fought him.

Yes Ortiz was 3rd or 4th but Fury was ranked 7 th. He had a stellar year in terms of an increase in the quality of his opponents but Ortiz he nearly lost and Fury he should have lost. He was exposed in both fights so I would love to give credit but I can’t. Was not impressed.

AJ looked like dog s#hit against Parker and I wasn’t overly impressed with his performance against Povetkin but I liked the jabs to the stomach and the finish

That leaves Whyte ( who Wilder refuses to fight for 8 million) and Klitschko (who Wilder's own manager refused to let Wilder fight). Funny how you leave them out of your ****** argument, ******

Klitschko lost his title the same year Wilder won it, so when was Wilder supposed to fight him? And what has Whyte done? People knock Wilders competition but praise Whyte for going live and death with a career journeyman. Chisora is tough but tough doesn’t equal great or even good for that matter. And the guy Whyte fought before Chisora was a total tomato can.

Povetkin is a full level above Ortiz and has fought on a full level above his whole career. Ortiz hasnt faced the top boys his whole career. What has Ortiz ever won? All the bleeting of Ortiz has only really picked up since Wilder luckily beat him and the fans havnt shut up about him since. Had to wait 40 fights before they were able to shove a Wilder victims name in peoples faces without getting totally laughed at.

And Parker was an unbeaten world champion with 1 belt who hadnt looked good in his defenses but he won, got the knock out, won on points. Exactly like Deontay Wilder. Ive watched him getting outboxed by gatekeeper level Boxers and worse. Who the hell is Parker? Hes just the New Zealand Wilder.

Parker was handpicked and you know it. Parker’s know better than Ortiz, Arreola, or any of the other guys Wilder has fought. I’ve been saying this for years there’s 3 to 4 heavyweights that can fight. The rest are all about the same level.
