Yes it does, because a majority of the general public does not know how to fight at all. The term "street fight" has taken on a whole new meaning over the decades. Most boys today don't know how to throw a ball, let alone a punch.
Does boxing help you become better at street fights?

No, it makes you worse. The first time the guy grabs you or hits you low, youre screaming for the ref and crying hes a dirty fighter.

Yes. Being able to land punches is hard, training boxing makes landing punches much more likely. Grappling is terrible for steet fights other than takedown defense. The last place you want to end up in a street or bar fight is in the ground. Being able to land a clean accurate punch takes training or luck. Dirty boxing, elbows, low kicks, and take down defense is what you need to learn for street fighting IMO.
High kicks are too risky for the steet IMO, but good low kicks can be useful. Boxing is a great base to have. Aikido and martial arts that require joint and wrist locks are almost useless. Jiu Jitsu on the ground is a terrible idea. Boxers have generally quick footwork and great balance, that’s a huge advantage.
I’ve worked as a bouncer, the last people I wanted to kick out of a bar were boxers, just too fast and too dangerous.Comment

There’s a good book I read years ago called “The Savage Science Of Streetfighting,” by Ned Beaumont. In it, Ned promotes boxing as the most effective streetfighting style. He recommends different methods of training and modifications to boxing for the street. (For example, he discourages uppercuts in a streetfight, as you could easily catch the opponent’s upper teeth and gash your fist.) I recall thinking that a lot of what he had to say was useful and made sense. You may or may not agree, there are a lot of opinions when it comes to this sort of stuff, but you’ll definitely find some ideas you can add to your arsenal.
I agree with what a few others have already said. Anyone with a decent amount of training in boxing will come out on top the vast majority of the time versus untrained people. A trained fighter has better coordination, power, speed and, maybe most importantly, knows what it feels like to take physical punishment. The average person has no idea what a real punch to the head feels like. They think those guys on TV are throwing love taps. Of course, there are variables. Are you drunk? How much bigger is your opponent? Are they trained as well? I wouldn’t go picking fights. Lol But the short answer to your question is: yes, boxing ability is very useful for streetfights.Comment

A trained boxer has a better chance to beat up anyone in a street fight, MMA trained fighters as well. My buddy who used to fight pro before he had an accident whooped on a guy who kept bragging and talking smack to him saying he would whoop his ass cause he was an MMA fighter. The MMA fighter came at him while by buddy slipped his sloppy punches and dropped him with a 1-2 . He was pretty much out and got more of a beating on the floor.Comment
