Same for the Prichard Cologne fight. He was repeatedly hit behind the head and the ref did not issue a single warning. The reality is Refs are there to also protect both fighters, and they do that by enforcing the rules, not enforcing their interpretation of said rules. The sport is dangerous enough with out the ineptitude added by some.

Stevenson paid his debt to society in prison, but apparently not in your eyes. And now you wanna kill his wife for cheering on her fiance who is now permanently disabled most likely. His woman's last name is God? Lol. I guess she was the moron loud mouth screaming and chanting Superman! Repeatedly during whole fight. Man I was so happy when Adonis got knocked out in the corner right in front of her lol. I would have wanted to kill her if she was seated next to me. That was extremely disrespectful to anyone paying and sitting anywhere near her. So the pimp of children lives on huh...
That's ok, bad karma will give you a he!!uva jolt sooner than later. No worries, eh?Comment

To respond to you simply, not every boxer falls into this category, but there are those like Corallez, Ghatti, Tapia, who are/were willing to die in the ring. It's not as simple as being selfish, for these men it's what they live for, and to them quitting when not ready is worst than death. Most of these women and families know what they are in for. Would it not be equally as selfish to force some one to change their entire being because you were uncomfortable with it, or because you were afraid. Yeah in a perfect world no one would get hurt and every boxer would retire right on time, but the reality of the sport is most will retire on time or a little after, and they will have nothing but scars as ailments. Few will have speech impediments, and yet far fewer will unfortunately receive life altering issues. The crazy thing is, the vast majority of all these boxers would not hesitate to do it all again. Like I said, this is not as simple as being selfish or unselfish.I guess for some boxers, it is helpful to know their family will be there to support them, whatever comes along and I guess they take whatever risks in the ring because they know that. But, a boxer should know when to stop, being selfish is not the way to go...and when I say selfish I mean the trainers and everybody involved. Yourself (the boxer) or someone in your immediate surrounding should tell you enough is enough, for your own good.Comment

Except I don't believe it's ineptitude much of the time.Same for the Prichard Cologne fight. He was repeatedly hit behind the head and the ref did not issue a single warning. Just making a comment based on what seating chart to that fight I wouldn't wanna sit in lol. Not sure where you get all other ideas haha. He payed a small debt to the government for ruining ppl whole lives. So if it was my family I would be happy to see him this way. It wasn't so I really don't have that strong a feeling either way. Just stating a fact.Stevenson paid his debt to society in prison, but apparently not in your eyes. And now you wanna kill his wife for cheering on her fiance who is now permanently disabled most likely.

You're the one who brought it up. So IOW it's more important to you than you'll admit, apparently.Just making a comment based on what seating chart to that fight I wouldn't wanna sit in lol. One of my favorite fighters of all-time.Excellent, heartfelt and thoughtful article. Shed light on those that ride the roller coaster which sometimes, like in life, derails and people die or get hurt.
I still miss Corrales. Even though he lost a few, I always was enthralled and captivated by his fighting spirit. I loved that even though he was nearly six foot at super featherweight and could of boxed his way through many fights, he couldn't help getting on it on on the inside.
Corrales/Castillo I is probably my no.1 fight of all-timeComment
