His woman's last name is God? Lol. I guess she was the moron loud mouth screaming and chanting Superman! Repeatedly during whole fight. Man I was so happy when Adonis got knocked out in the corner right in front of her lol. I would have wanted to kill her if she was seated next to me. That was extremely disrespectful to anyone paying and sitting anywhere near her. So the pimp of children lives on huh...

Thanks for this thoughtful article. There are so many unsung heroes that do the less-than-glamorous jobs without recognition so we can enjoy the sweet science. We should remember the fighters that have put so much in the ring and came out with little to show for it apart from their wounds.

Where are the sanctioning bodies, states licensing boards, promoters and networks when these things happen? Do they have disability insurance for their fighters?

I don't think these cases should be taken to the courts, but has anyone been legally held liable for disability sustained in a fight?

Excellent, heartfelt and thoughtful article. Shed light on those that ride the roller coaster which sometimes, like in life, derails and people die or get hurt.

I still miss Corrales. Even though he lost a few, I always was enthralled and captivated by his fighting spirit. I loved that even though he was nearly six foot at super featherweight and could of boxed his way through many fights, he couldn't help getting on it on on the inside.

this is why we as fans should never call fighters coward... they literally risk their lives every time they step in the ring..

That was one preventable injury, if only the primary task of a referee had occurred--enforcing rules meant to prevent such injuries or death.

I should add that with the Stevenson brain injury, the ref was not at all at fault.
I think that same day weigh in would be safer also

One of the better articles I have read since ive been a member.

Fighters in general that cut a lot of weight run the highest risk of suffering a TBI. CBD should also be looked at by more fighters & trainers. Ive read tons of good info about how it cushions the brain & speeds concussion recovery.

I guess for some boxers, it is helpful to know their family will be there to support them, whatever comes along and I guess they take whatever risks in the ring because they know that. But, a boxer should know when to stop, being selfish is not the way to go...and when I say selfish I mean the trainers and everybody involved. Yourself (the boxer) or someone in your immediate surrounding should tell you enough is enough, for your own good.
