The second fight at 9 I had it 5-4 Canelo, but I thought Golovkin was unreal in the last 3 rounds and it was 7-5 GGG on my card, but could easily see 6-6 or 7-5 Canelo. Canelo was brilliant that night as well. What I don't get though is people saying Canelo ruined GGG in that fight and beat him up, etc. Nonsense, it was a great fight that could easily have been scored for Golovkin. I watched with no bias as I am a massive fan of both fighters. And people trying to say he doesn't have power at the top level, of course he does. Mike Tyson stopped knocking people out when he stepped up, but he still has immense power. The reason knock outs are much rarer at the highest level are because of a few reasons. A good to great chin is usually an attribute of a top fighter, balance, technigue and heart also play a part in that. Then there's good to great defence, that top fighters have. And also much better ability at riding shots, rather than taking them full force. If Canelo just stood there and let Golovkin just **** his face in flush, he wouldn't last long, out it that way.
      This!

Despite Canelo improving and having a better showing this time, some people say that he whooped GGG. Nonsense, despite trailing the first half of the fight...Golovkin came back the second half and took over....showed that he's indeed an elite fighter and not just a hype job that the haters claimed he was.

Plus I know people will claim "Oh but why didn't GGG listen to Abel Sanchez?" There's a good reason for it. The Canelo figured out that GGG has trouble with inside fighting and the fact that he has a solid chin, he could withstand GGG's power. Plus add the fact that Canelo is quicker, He'd get off first....making it difficult for GGG who realized to use his reach, movement and his jab....which still gave Canelo problems. Was a great fight!

Solid fighter but wasn't this killer he was made out to be when he stepped up in class.

--- Whoops Popkins record and more popular too.

Did it without squalin' like Popkins was prone to.

Need a hundred more Canelo's and Golovkins and a hundred less Popkins.

golovkin will quite possibly get into the hall of fame. if you think that he's underrated historically given that potential reality you are bat**** nuts. the guy will be remembered as a would have, could have fighter. he turned pro way too late. he stayed in europe for too long. didn't get the proper leverage in american markets for a super fight until he'd slowed down. his best win is danny jacobs. his knockouts were not elite level opponents or even A class middleweights. very few B class knockouts, even! canelo kicked his ass in the rematch. the first fight WAS close! these are the facst and the realities.

you overrate him because he's seen as "european."

Kazakhstan is actually in asia! central asia! it's not even on the f#cking border!

He has a great style for casuals although I personally have always liked boxers more. If you're more powerful than someone it's easier to win by landing the right shot(s)...and that takes a ton of skill dont get me wrong.

But guys like Crawford and Loma are so fun to watch because they usually aren't the bigger man and have to be alert and aware every second of every fight....defending, countering, and those two specifically always go for the stoppage which is rare.

My favorite all-time is Floyd because of how gifted he was. Staying consistent I didnt like Kovalev, GGG, Charlo girls, Spence, etc. However, I acknowledge at least Sergey and Gennady are good fighters. The Charlo girls and Errol are nobodies looking like studs beating up part-time fighters...I'm unimpressed thoroughly.

Fun to watch, except in vs canelo 2 when he really had a chance to show what he's made of, but overall nothing special. A strong puncher that sat in a weak division for a long time.

People say stuff like when he stepped up he wasn't as good, which is wrong, every fighter in history when they fight other great fighters in their division have hard fights. Was he expected to just walk through Jacobs and Canelo in a round? Golovkin would be a great in any era and I'm not saying he would beat everyone, but he'd be a hard nights work for any fighter in history.

i don't agree with this, i think a lot of historic tier MW would stop the golovkin that canelo fought. when he fought canelo and jacobs he did look like a lesser fighter. a lot of that came down to age.

so against the all time greats we're talking about "prime golovkin," who i think we can all agree was around even before the jacobs fight and certainly wasn't around in the cnaelo fight. when talking about that guy, who was a badass and highly skilled, we are talking about a guy who fought no A or B level middleweights. his best wins aside from jacobs are what, david lemieux? martin murrray, dan geale? these guys were not total cans, but believe me, a lot of fighters in history would have looked really good against them and knocked them out, and they're not all great middleweights!

this will be a sad case but i expect it to happen. he's going to fight canelo a third time. maybe late next year, maybe in may 2020. he's getting knocked out. and people will start to get even louder about him being overrated.

we should remember golovkin for being the most avoided fighter in boxing for a period in time. he certainly was that. and it was because he had terrific power, a great chin, and a great jab
