Comments Thread For: Jermall Charlo Decisions a Game Matt Korobov, Retains Title

Korobov's a lefty with a good amateur pedigree ( 2-1 vs Kovalev and lost to Golovkin on points) so, he was always going to be a decent test for Charlo. That said, Matt's 35 with a so so resume, who hasn't been active, so you expect Charlo to dominate.
Jermall's a good fighter but hasn't shown himself to be special at MW. A special fighter separates himself from the top guys and nobody at MW has done that. Alvarez, Golovkin and Jacobs are top tier, followed by Andrade, Saunders and Charlo.
As for Jermall, if you're going to hype yourself as special., you got to do something special.

Jermall won the fight. He didn't look good doing it but he won. Korobov did really well to make it close but in the end Jermall won. Jermall has a hard times with southpaws and it showed last night. Because of this fact, there's no way I could put him in an elite level at MW.
Jermell also won his fight, but again it was close. He didn't look like the killer he claimed to be. In fact he should be embarrassed for rolling up on Hurd after his fight because he would get wrecked if they fought.
The Charlo twins are who they are. They're good enough to be special as twins but not special enough to great as individual boxers.

I thought Korobov edged it but I'm not drawing the same conclusion many here are about Jermall. Korobov is no bum. It's a shame about his career post Andy Lee but if he had stayed the course he'd likely be in the conversation for who's best at 160.
Jermall just wasn't prepared for a technician like Korobov who had a tight defense and could actually counter whenever Jermall loaded up and missed. It wasn't a robbery but it would have been if Korobov had not gassed out.

Charlo is the sort of opposition that Golovkin was blasting out the ring when he was on his streak, then blaming Golovkin for the poor level of opposition.
Charlo had so many flaws in his game I lost count - he would be an easy night for Canelo or Jacobs, and I think even the faded Golovkin would still put him in his place. Saunders would dance around him all night.
Charlo needs to stay at his level, which is Lemieux etc - basically sub-elite.

CANELO is gonna school & KO Jermall Charlo in spectacular highlight reel fashion , it has to be on DAZN , I don't think that level of graphic violence can be shown on network television , where kids may be watching.
