Erickson Lubin vs Ishe Smith on the Davis/Mares Card?

According to Lubin, that is going to be his next fight. Seems like any of Al's promising young 154 pounders who get stopped fight Ishe Smith shortly after lol. From JRock to Harrison to apparently now Lubin. What do you guys think of this fight? Lubin was set to be THE guy for Haymon at 154 but Charlo ruined those plans with a one hitter quitter. Smith is a safe fight in the sense that he isn't going to stop you, but he can still potentially give Lubin fits. If Lubin beats Smith in style, then he probably gets a tougher fight next before getting back in the title picture.

I like this fight for both fighters... Crossroads fight at its fullest.
Ishe is a tough Mofo & still has enough left to test the kid who hasn't been very active. (April??)

Lubin should win, But I want to watch this.

Smith is a wily vet, but it would still be impressive if Lubin can get him out of there. Smith performed very well vs JRock but lost convincingly against Harrison.

Lubin hasn't been active no. But a guy that got knocked out like that, I wouldn't have put him back there for like 8 or 9 months. But they put him back there in April and didn't fight again the rest of the year. Lubin did change trainers to Cunningham so let's see how that works out. I still feel like he's too small for the bigger 154 pounders though. He should be able to make 147 considering his age but doesn't seem to want to for some reason.

I like it. Lubin is extremely talented, but was rushed too quick. But we may find out that his chin just isn't good enough at the elite level regardless. Who knows.

I thought Lubin was going to dominate 154. I was surprised when Charlo KO'd him in one round.

Pretty much everyone was surprised Charlo KO'd him with one shot in the first round. Folks after the fight made it look like it was a huge mismatch but the odds going into that fight were extremely close. Lubin was seen as the more talented fighter of the two just without Charlo's experience. If Lubin doesn't get caught there, then the fight would have been very competitive IMO. Lubin would have won more of the rounds, just not sure his chin was going to hold up either way. And like I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure he has the size to match up with the bigger 154 pounders. He has the talent sure, but lacks in size and possibly in chin as well. Time will tell on the chin part though.

I don't know if this is the right fight for Lubin right now. Smith is tough and Lubin really got devastated when he got KO'd. But you got to get back on the horse and Smith will definitely give him work he needs. I'm pulling for Lubin and hope he can get back on track.

Yeah, but it would have been like 16 months til the KO. At that point either the fighter is recovered from the KO or likely will never be recovered from it. Lubin needs this type of fight to see where he falls under. He has the talent and skill level to win this fight in style.

Two terrible fights I pass. I think Lubin was overhyped not really that good. I might be wrong but a win against Smith won’t prove me wrong.
