What is it about the super-tall heavyweights since the 2000's?

At the dawn of the 2000's from Lewis to the Klitchko brothers to the three headed beasts of Joshua, Fury and Wilder right now, were talking an average of about 6'6"+ height for the heavyweight champs.

What caused this height spurt in boxing? Height in boxing even at heavyweight was not nearly as important as it always has been basketball, so why all of a sudden does it seem to be the land of giants at HW and why didn't they ever dominate to this extent in earlier periods?

    evolution.

    humans that tall isnt new.

but look at what kevin durant can do at his height. balance, skill and speed at a height previously thought impossible.

so whats new is giants with the coordination of non giants. we see it in the nba now and we see it in boxing too.

if you look at the spread of titleholders since lewis its evenly divided between tallers and non tallers. There is no evolution, simply more tall people in it so theres more tall champs represented.

the dominant champions of the last two decades have all been very tall.

yes in the era of four belts, you can find champions of lesser height, but not anybody that dominated the division like lewis and the klitschkos did, or like joshua, wilder & fury do now.

thats interesting, who has dominated since Mike TYson and Lewis?

The tag team Klitschkos who got starched multiple times by middle of the roaders? Neither dominated. They needed the help of another fighter in order to own one title, or a severe watering down of the title as with wlads late (improved?) reign. They are proof that fighters have got weaker as they got taller!

Joshua? maybe since hes faced two title holders, and wilder and fury share the honour of just facing one. The fact that the titles are split three ways argues there is no dominance, with only Joshua acting to buck that trend so its interesting that you claim that wilder fury and joshua all dominate when none of them are.

They controlled the belts for a decade without a single loss between them. If that's not domination, I don't know what is.

Typically people that are "giants" are typically 7 feet and up. They're abnormally tall but for the most part aren't actual giants imho. Yao Ming is 7'6 and had good coordination. When I think of giants I think of guys like Robert Wadlow, who was 8'11. Would have more than likely broken 9 foot had he not died(he was only 22 and more than likely would have grew more).

tag team isnt, be real. Perhaps you just dont know for real.

Name me another era when two guys were needed so as not to get easily knocked out by a retired middleman corrie sanders.
