I favor Canelo over the best at MW. As for the next opponent I say its BJS, most logical, bigger name in the UK N better wins than Jacob's, Boo Boo, Charlo. I doubt Charlo faces any of them, unfortunately as hes a PBC guy. Jacobs is a worthy opponent but he can still make a better case for himself by facing and defeating another candidate... they all can. Sucks as a fan when its difficult to get these guys in the ring with each other.
Doesn't want BJS, moves way too much. Andrade is 6' 1" a south paw mover like Lara but with power...(we all saw what that was like) DLH is pushing Munguia and Lemieux at 168. Those are the fights your getting so better learn to like them.

It is actually probably financially the best option for DAZN to force Canelo into hard outs like those back to back.

      Good fights = more subscribers.
Good fights, and Canelo loses = they don't have to pay Canelo 365 million over 11 fights anymore.

They want to him to get them enough subscribers quickly enough to make the investment worth it.

Id be baffled if they don't have performance riders in his contract as well after Floyd milked his CBS contract with fights like Guerrero, and Berto, and Maidana.

They don't want Canelo to have his "Pacquiao" fight 3 years down the line, they want it asap, and its probably going to cause some conflict between Canelo, Oscar, and DAZN.

They are much less interested in what they can make off of Canelo's fights monetarily than what they can make off of the subscribers they want these fights bring to the platform.

They are not a mature platform, that has already saturated their potential subscriber base.

They are new, they need subscribers to survive. They want to be the netflix of sports, they need compelling content, not more Canelo vs Fielding.
From what we’ve heard, the 300 mil is guaranteed. Outside of GGG and Jacobs (to a slightly lesser extent, everyone might as well be Fielding as far as the “casual” is concerned. Charlo, Andrade (even boxing fans dont know wtf this guy is up to half the time), BJS, etc are just random challengers to most. Like you say, the platform is “new”. They dont just want people subscribing to Canelo fights, but they’ll want people to want to watch the fights against guys Canelo will be fighting, AJ fights, etc.

just throwing what WE think and know will be good competitive fights doesnt mean the masses know the other guy. It’s not going to bring in or keep anyone that wasnt going to stick around for Canelo regardless. Fighting Danny Jacobs next is a great fight...but DAZN could put Jacobs (as the next challenger) in another fight, work up more interest in him while still retaining good name value for your company AND Jacobs and it’s still seen as DAZN having the arguable number 1 and 3 (or 2b depending if you consider him on GGG’s level). You dont want to risk Danny winning and riding off and now youre stuck with the second or third best MW as your best name at MW and 9 fights left on his guaranteed contract. People will still watch...And then imagine he loses AGAIN. DAZN needs Canelo winning first and foremost, and sporadically showing us he’s definitely the best. He already is.

People will pay for Canelo because he’s proven.

Fighting Charlo or Andrade or BJS does nothing for DAZN that he wouldnt already do with anyone else. How many of those tons of people/downloads they got this past weekend for the Canelo fight do you think knew Andrade or Charlo? Probably slightly more than knew Fielding.

You want interest in the division AND it’s fighters with the catalyst and end game being Canelo.

Does DAZN just want subscribers when Canelo fights? Just two Canelo fights a year? Or two canelo fights AND two Danny Jacobs fights because he’s the big dog thats going to fight Canelo?

This loud mouth does way too much talking and DAZN is lucky as phuk HBO folded and Oscar came to DAZN to save the day. Hearn was a bust on DAZN and couldn't get top guys to sign and has had shyt attendance trying to promote fights in the US. Talk about Joshua and fights you promote and fighters you have under contract. You don't speak for Golden Boy, Canelo or DAZN's deal with them.

you misunderstand at no point have I ever said or thought that canelo had to earn a third fight with golovkin all I said was that the winner off the fight between him and Jacobs can then fight golovkin is all..

a third fight would be good anyway as their previous fights were close yet entertaining and would make decent money on the fight gate...

also last but not least it's Triple G not Triple L like you wrote......if you're going to criticise me then at least do it properly..

Makes since from DAZN if that report about DAZN shockingly low numbers is correct.

That is a strategy that would make sense if they were an already established platform, but they don't have the audience to build up fights by putting guys on the same card yet.

They are still trying to get people in the door to know they even exist.

Its also extremely unlikely they signed a contract with Canelo that gave him free reign in choosing his opponents, while guaranteeing the entire contract. That would be a huge blunder business wise.

We are not privy to the details, but we saw what happened with PBC and how they squandered close to a billion dollars while putting on garbage fights and overpaying for them, its highly unlikely DAZN are allocating more than 1/3 of their budget to a contract with Canelo that doesn't give them considerable say in who he fights, and doesn't allowed them to strategize what the best way to use him to garner a subscriber base is.

PBC put on nothing but garbage fights, and poured close to a billion dollars down the drain, and for what return on investment? None. All they managed to do is get their investors sued by their shareholders.

Id be shocked if DAZN didn't put a performance rider in Canelos contract that give them the option to reduce their contractual obligations to him financially, or allow them the option to chose his opponent if he fails to meet certain viewership numbers.

If the Fielding fight did as poorly for DAZN as rumor has it, Hearn coming out and saying DAZN wants GGG and Jacobs in 2019, is probably DAZNs way of publicly telling Oscar to shut up about Canelos opponents, because they don't get to pick anymore.

Especially with Jacobs and GGG in free agency as far as networks are concerned, any move other than one that would land Jacobs and GGG on DAZN is not an acceptable move for them.

It also has to be considered that if the numbers were as bad as they are saying, other fighters might think twice before signing on, especially with once again what happened with PBC and fighters getting shelved and being unable to secure fights.

So a couple more soft touches for Canelo is not an option.

Doubtful about Lemieux happening. This has been a rumor for years..every undercard hes been on we get these, hasnt yet happened. Whoever skeptics are saying Canelo is or will duck will be the one Canelo faces.

The problem is that the tough fights (outside of GGG and Jacobs a distant second) is the soft touches and the “tough” fights are the same numbers wise and guys like Andrade and BJS arent going to give exciting fights as it is.

If Canelo stops Charlo or BJS or something, the masses will say they were soft touched anyway.

They dont bring in numbers that Canelo isn’t already bringing and thats where the problem is. GGG was so far ahead of the competition and now that the peak has beenn conquered, everyone else is just another guy as far as the common fan is concerned.

Canelo is so far ahead in stardom that Charlo, BJS, Andrade, even Lemieux arent going to bring in a different audience.

The numbers arent low because of Canelo, he’s proven his worth on PPV, it’s the platform. It’s not going to catch on immediately and if your ONLY two meaningful fights in 12 months are the two Canelo is in, you’re alienating the rest of your division and shows. What DAZN needs is more subscribers, and fighting 99% of the MW division isnt going to do it in one night. People need good fights between ALL the MWs in the division (and platform) and not just Canelo. Otherwise you just hold out for his fights exclusively. You have no incentive in keeping your subscriptiong after may and september. Why watch Jacobs fight? He’s not fighting Canelo. Why watch Andrade fights? He’s not fighting Canelo. Etc etc. he fights Jacobs..nice..but now youve lost a piece on the board in Jacobs. He fights GGG (if signed)..now you have one less event and one less piece again. After Danny and GGG, that’s basically it. The longer you can go with your good fighters winning, the more events you can make.

All the fans tuning into those fights from these other fighters tune in for Canelo, lets be honest. But not all fans who tune in for Canelo tune in for them and they dont want to just essentially discard them as pawns for singular May and September events. You need to somehow keep guys interested in them too by using Canelo as bait. If DAZN is successful, it wont be off two events a year and it wont be quick if its going to be successful at all. If Canelo can’t do it, it’s just a problem with the platform. We already know the guy can get a mil plus households to shell out 60-70 bucks to watch him.

On a side note.. da zone is such a ****** name. Or is it just me?
