What choice does he have? Joshua is a big freaking deal in the UK, in the US he's a non-entity. That could change quickly of course, but in order to do so he needs to start investing stateside. Getting out there in the media. Fighting here, etc..

Also doing the fight within a month period of a canelo fight is smart for US exposure . A lot of fans will sign up for a free dazn monthly trial for canelo fights and cancel before the $10 subscription kicks in so him fighting within that one month period would help his numbers massively.

That should be right around Wilder/Fury 2 so he will be able to draft off that promotion a bit. "This is the other HW champion who will face the Wilder-Fury winner, etc etc."
