Why hasn't Canelo learned English yet?

He doesn't have too speak English. He's already the highest paid boxer, the face of boxing, has the highest sports contract, and is the undisputed MW lineal King.

I would much rather him express himself in his native tongue than to have to listen to him repeat the same learned phrases, like Drama show, good boy, bis show, Mexican style, regardless of the question.

I know they probably pushed him to try to learn, being that De la Hoya is his promoter and Oscar knows that learning English will propel him to greater opportunities.

It actually helps his marketability in some ways, that he is a Irish looking Mexican who? Is speaking his native language with pride, and is not learning English. I don't think he needs to learn English to be fair, but he obviously knows abit! Just wants to speak Mexican.

I am sure he has picked up on some English, it is natural when you are constantly around English speaking people.

Nope. He was born there but grew up in PR, just like Margarito was born in America but grew up in Mexico and doesn’t speak English.

Canelo already knows English. If you noticed, he doesn't need translators anymore. He understands he's just not confident in replying in English.

Definitely notice that. And this is why I knew and remember he started English lessons some years back. He understands it but the interpreter interprets his reply to the English speaking interviewers.

Lance Pugmire once conducted an interview with him in English. He said Canelo can speak English, just that he doesn't want to make mistakes on camera which is kind of ****** since it works for guys like GGG.

Canelo was talking to Ryan Garcia for a bit yesterday and Garcia can't speak Spanish. So Canelo must be talking decent English.

Am sure R.Garcia understands Spanish. He is of Latino heritage and am sure his family speaks the language around him. He himself might not speak it fluently doe. I have kids in the U.K. whose parents are from different countries and they speak their languages to their kids growing up. Those kids would reply back to them in English every single time, but they understand clearly what their parents are saying to them in Chinese, Jamaican or African languages.
