Comments Thread For: Jacobs: With Lemieux Out, Stronger Possibility I'll Face Canelo

I agree. It's hard to criticize Canelo, but I do think that the Matchroom/DAZN folks need to be wary about starting this enterprise off with soft, non-competitive fights. They need to come out firing with big marquee matchups to build a great reputation right out of the gate. They can't sell this thing only from the customer value proposition (that its cheap). DAZN needs to be the place where truly great fights happened or it risks fizzling out before it gets going. I think of those early fights on HBO's Boxing After Dark series that really established a great reputation for the program.Comment

Nothing new to see here, Canelo looked awesome wth those beatiful combos and nasty body work but Fielding was a weak champ.
Now let's get into real business, really hoping Canelo faces Jacobs in May because that wuold be a very fun fight and a competitive one.
Let's not blow out this out of proportion, Canelo did what he had to do and you still gotta give him props for what he did but he needs to fight a tough guy for his next fight.Comment

jacobs is all class, if anyone deserves the canelo fight is him, always willing to make the fights ... charlos should take a note...
i really hope we get canelo-jacobs next, let the others fight each other and then comeback to claim their shot...Comment

Thank the heavens! A sensible and respectful post! Thanks and something I actually enjoyed reading.I agree. Canelo is not going to do to well with DAZN unless he fights the very best guys available. I believe Canelo has no problem doing that but Oscar might. Oscar looks at it from a risk reward (financial) standpoint, Canelo believes in himself more than Oscar believes in him an I'm sure would have no problem fighting, Jacobs, Andrade or even a trilogy with GGG. Personally I want to see him face Jacobs as he in my opinion is the biggest challenge.Comment

I think Jacobs would 100% take on Charlo, and has shown that by confronting him a few times. But come on... everyone wants the Alvarez payday, and the prestige that would go with if they could beat him. Charlo would push an old lady down to get the chance.
I love the idea of Jacobs/Charlo. It works on a ton of levels for both fighters. But everyone in the 160-168 range will wait until team Canelo picks their next future millionaire. Oops, I mean opponent.Comment

Yep. This. He is a quality human being. I would favor Alvarez. I would cheer for the Miracle Man.Comment
