Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez: I'll Go To 175, I'm Ready To Challenge Gvozdyk

Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez hoped for repeat. Jesse "Hollywood" Hart sought revenge. In a rematch of their September 2017 bout, Ramirez once again emerged victorious, notching a majority decision (114-114, 115-113 2X) to retain his WBO super middleweight world title for the fifth time.

Tough time making weight maybe and hoping after brain damaging Adonis, Gvozdyk won’t be on his game?

Yesss!!!! Awesome. Zurdo got balls unlike his most famous countryman. Not that prime Gvozdyk is as scary as prime GGG but still, Zurdo deserves credit for this, unlike Canelo waiting GGG out. Hope we see Gvozdyk-Zurdo next or maybe one tuneup for both on the same card then fight. Put Zurdo vs one of the three guys Gvozdyk failed to stop, hope Zurdo stops him, then use that to market the Gvozdyk-Zurdo fight next in a big fight for May or June next year. Otherwise pencil it in right away for March or April.

Pascal also just went 12 with Bivol, so that could be a perfect opponent for a Zurdo tuneup at 175. Gvozdyk-Jack main event, Zurdo-Pascal co-feature, winners fight.

Me too. I got a bad feeling this will be yet another Mexican or American A-side talking tough after a fight, but then waiting for his tough opponents to get old before fighting them. That's the bad feeling I have. It's a good fight, so as long as he's not lying like Canelo was, and making Mexico look bad to the world like Canelo did, I'd be very pleased with it. Zurdo is a better inside fighter than Gvozdyk, and might be bigger and more powerful too. And a southpaw. And Gvozdyk would be the shorter man for once, a big adjustment coming off Stevenson. Zurdo also has long arms, taking away another advantage Gvozdyk is comfortable having. Could make for an uncomfortable night for Gvozdyk. Yeah he beat Stevenson but Stevenson was untested at the top level. Zurdo is young and strong like a bull. It's a solid fight that should bring some much needed attention to BOTH their careers and there aint many other guys out there besides each other who can do that.
