Don't listen to dip shyt Keith Idec Lemieux was never a serious contender for Cinco De Mayo. That clown created that speculation without a shred of facts to back it up. Canelo was always going to fight someone better or a bigger name then Lemieux in May. His low level fights have been booked in arenas OUTSIDE of Vegas see Kirkland in Houston, Liam Smith in Cowboy Stadium, and now Fielding in MSG (and 2 of those fights weren't on Mexican Holiday weekend). You don't book out Stubhub in Vegas on Cinco De Mayo for Lemieux but dummy Keith Idec didn't even use logic or recent history of Canelo opponents or the fact that they passed over Lemieux 4 times already when he wrote that trash article.

Oscar has done several interviews where he stated neither GGG or Jacobs would be the opponent for May, that both have to get in line.

And Canelo said he wants to return to 160, but he's also open to defend at 168 or fight in-between both weights at a catch - which could open the door for Lemieux. Golden Boy has NOT been pushing Lemieux on every Canelo undercard, as the co-feature, for giggles. They are doing it to build a future fight between them.

Lemieux can't be trusted to make weight in his last 8 scheduled fights he's basically batting .500 making 160 weight. 2 fights canceled because he didn't make weight and 2 fights over 160.

But he must of been seriously damaged trying to cut weight today because even if he just misses weight by 1 or 2 lbs no doubt Golden Boy and Tureano agree to increase the limit probably pay Johnson some extra money from Lemieux's purse and the show goes on. Boxing has to do something about this shyt way too many fighters going to the hospital after damn near killing themselves to make weight. Someone is actually going to die. Everyone is fighting in weight classes that are 1-2 lower then their natural fighting weight. It's a game of keeping up with the joneses and you don't want to move up because now you fighting guys that are 1-2 weights bigger then that division. We need stricter rules in boxing for weights to force guys to be on a level playing field and all fight in their natural phuking weights.
