Comments Thread For: Canelo on DAZN: The Investment Begins

By Cliff Rold - This weekend is only the beginning, a toe in the water. No one expects world middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KO) to lose this weekend in a sojourn to super middleweight. WBA secondary titlist Rocky Fielding (27-1, 15 KO) is a respectable professional with the chance of a lifetime. If things play out to the tune of the odds, even in defeat he walks away with more name recognition than he'd garner fighting anyone else near his weight...

1 million subscribers on DAZN = $10million per year to be shared with other fighters. Yet Canelo has this $365m dollar deal. Something is not adding up. Unless they expect revenues from adverts etc. A lot of ifs for sure.

Let's go Canelo and DAZN, you can do it!!!

For the hope of boxing I want this to succeed. Canelo is going to play a big role here and he is the key player. I hope Canelo pull this off in the name of boxing.

If 1 million are prepared to pay $85 for ggg canelo fight I would presume double maybe triple of that would pay $10 If a 3rd fight were to happen and Dazn would be hoping to keep a fair chunk of them to keep subscribing. They will certainly be making more than $10 million a year

I guess so...it's actually $120million a year for 1million subscribers. But they have to pay for other fighters on their roaster and other fighters with other networks.

Well, DAZN offers more than just boxing. Also, DAZN is not just US. So potentially there could be a lot more than 1 mln joining - wouldn't be surprised if Canelo gets 1 mln new subscriptions for each fight.

That's actually 10 million a month. A year is 120 million. Do the math.
