Is Teofimo Lopez a future Lomachenko opponent?

You may have heard that PapaFimo barked at Team Loma at the fighters’ hotel a couple days ago. Greg Leon had deets on Boxing Talk:

“I just told them how I feel. I told them that we’re going to steal the show again and we’re coming to take his head off soon. ... He ain’t nobody man, I don’t know why people praise this guy,” said Teofimo’s dad Teofimo Senior. “This guy is terrible and everybody saw it on Saturday when he looked terrible. This guy won’t last two rounds with my son and I’ll put all my money on that. He’s too fragile for my son, and we already that they’re not going to fight us because we’re going to end his career. Top Rank would love for him to do it because it would set him up as a $50M fighter. Top Rank doesn’t need this guy. He couldn’t even sell out a 5,000 seat arena. This guy is a fake and he’s always been a fake to me. We would have killed Pedraza in one round. We’re putting Lomachenko to sleep. He’s just too small. Loma is never going to be able to beat my son. If he fights this way with my son he might get knocked out seconds into the first round. My son is going to be the best boxer in history and he’s only 21 right now and I believe he only landed with like 50-60% of his power on that shot that finished Menard off.”

I know it's too early, but f**k it! Make It Happen in 2019!
Just change the names to Jeff Lacy and Calzaghe, and its not far off of what the Lacy camp was saying before the Calzaghe fight.

Not to say Tefimo isn't the real deal, he might be, but he needs to start beating Ring top 10 fighters before we know if he can even compete at the top level - same for any other prospect out there.

And at 21, he's still got development time before he peaks. he sure looks good at the moment - but so did Lacy once upon a time, and we know what happened there as soon as he stepped up.

Can someone please explain what it is that DiBella does exactly? It seems like his main role is as Haymon's in-house 'promoter' who can put his signature on things that Al can't in his adviser role. From the outside, it looks like dude has parlayed a Harvard MBA and a Brooklyn accent into a boxing fans dream job of basically getting paid to watch fights.

I think 2019 is far too soon for the fight and Lopez would get busted up. Maybe towards mid/late 2020 he could be a viable opponent. I'd like to see him fight 5-6 times next year and maybe fight some gatekeepers and contenders. He has a lot of potential.
          I say let him fight Beltran, and then let him fight Loma! I don't think he'll be @ 135 mid/late 20/20! I think he'll be @ 140 by then!

            Better Commey than Crolla.

Lopez will eventually be a WW! I don't know how long he can stay @ 135! I'm afraid he'll outgrow 135, and we'll never see him vs. Loma! They should put Beltran next, maybe Pedraza on Loma's next card, and then Loma after that, depending on the previous performances!

All three of those fights could have gone either way for my money... I know styles make fights, but if little Denis Shafikov could make Commey (and Easter) struggle I'm not particularly liking either of their chances against Loma. Both fights I'd much rather see than Crolla though.

If Lopez outgrows 135 too soon, there is Prograis, Taylor, Hooker, Martinez and others at 140 that would be more exciting fights at 140.

Loma needs an easy fight with someone of his size to regain confidence after injured shoulder and inactivity.
Best if he fights gervonta duck davis or Gamboa. Or GRJ-LeoSantCruz winner - something easy like this.

Not a bad idea Dibella. I got Loma by decision in that fight but wouldn't mind seeing it.
