For one the tournament didn't get a lot of support. They had trouble selling tickets to the viewing public. In addition, it was broadcast over the internet as opposed to a lineal platform which led to its quick demise.

yeah there were a lot of bad signs during the quarterfinals.
They streamed the fights on youtube for the UK and german markets, because they were not able to sell the broadcasting rights in time. I cant remember the real numbers, so dont quote me on that, but there were less than 10k viewers watching those fights on youtube for a couple of those shows in total. That cant have make enough money to justify the purses.

I agree. Likewise, they had a lot of empty seats in the arena too. They couldn't do any numbers at the gate. The tickets at the live gate flopped.
