Comments Thread For: Shields' Manager: Braekhus Won't Fight Her; Says She's Too Big

Even if HBO were to continue broadcasting boxing, the premium cable network's tripleheader Saturday night wouldn't serve as a preview of the biggest women's boxing match that can be made. Claressa Shields is more than willing to move down to 154 pounds to oppose undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus. The problem for Shields and, to some degree, women's boxing is that Braekhus isn't interested in moving up to meet Shields in the middle for a fight that'd at least attract a lot of attention.

She's definitely too big. The Pacquiao-De La Hoya comparison is irrelevant here because Cecilia, who is the smaller fighter, is the older fighter.

Going up against someone who is not only bigger, but 14 years younger would be an incredibly dumb move.

Luckily Shields, despite claiming to be the greatest female fighter of all time, has yet to even knock down a professional opponent, so not like she’s Anne Wolfe.

Well, she is indeed but a fight against Shields will be the biggest possible payday in her life and in women boxing history as well.

Shields should come down if she really wants the fight. Bring that body fat % down. Plenty to lose.

She is too big !! No welterweight man would fight a supermiddleweight so why should it be any different with women. How about make the fat f#%k shields fight Hammer. Tell her to quit ducking the that big girl in her own division

Sheilds and her team are only looking to build her name of Cecilia and her accomplishments, knowing well that she dwarfs her and the fight wouldn't be competative. On top of that, Sheilds'team are acting like Cecilia owes her the fight, she doesn't owe her sheet. Especially when she runs around calling herself the greatest of all time... idiotic woman

So Floyd basically defyed the odds by going up in weight and fighting a undefeated fighter who was 13years younger than him in Canelo.
