Thurman wants to "solidify" being the #1 Welterweight??? Wrong. Thurman needs to earn his way back. By the time he fights, he will be out nearly 2 years, about the same time as Floyd when Floyd retired years back. Floyd had no belts, no PFP ranking, etc. Thurman deserves nothing. Him still holding a belt is a joke.

I think most will tune in after this fight and some real fights are announced.

By the time Thurman is really back, maybe Spence has moved up, and Porter and Crawford already forced to defend against prospects such as Josh Kelly, Kerman Lejarraga or Qudratillo Abduqaxorov. There are others too on the rise, such as Daniyar Yeleussinov and Jaron Ennis, and both Khan and Brooks have stated an interest in challenging for world titles at 147.

Thus, a unification of the division between boxers such as Thurman, Spence and Crawford will most likely never happen. It is just talk. These American guys are more interested in keeping their one belt, cash in against low ranked opposition, and by doing so, a couple of them are waisting their prime years and a chance to make a legacy.

To unify the belts, I think a new dude will have to appear in 2019/2020 and clean up the division. A WBSS tournament is probably the only way the current champions could agree to unify the division, but that is not gonna happen. They need to be dethroned first, and then we might see a WBSS between the new champs and contenders.

Talk is cheap. And Thurman talks a lot.

How can you possibly make a statement by fighting goddamn Josesito Lopez? Will Keith fight blindfolded?

Stop bashing Thurman and give him a chance to prove himself and the doubters

Let's give Thurman the benefit of the doubt. I hope he pull off a Tyson Fury in 2019. I am going to believe in Thurman for now.

Thurman's already got all his fights until 2021 planned out. Lopez and Porter. If an injury happens, it could be his next three or four years.

Also, someone should really break him the news that no one considers him the #1 ww.

Spence is playing a game of keep away just like Thurman and Danny and everyone else with the PBC. The difference is that Spence is the only guy that dosn't realize that the PBC have him in the same lockout as Crawford. Spence is getting played...

Al haymen + Bob = no fight 95% of the time. Crawford resigned so idk what to say. We all know they deal.

I will also. Thurman needs to prove he still has the hunger and the self motivation to be a top 147 fighter again, but I want to see it. So I will believe in him until there is no reason to. Let's see what happens with this first fight. If he is rusty, that is fine. That is the purpose of a tune-up fight against "B" level competition, to get back in ring awareness shape, if you will. If he is sloppy and looks unmotivated, not fine. He is fighting someone good enough to expose Thurman if his heart is not in the game anymore. Spence, Crawford, or Porter would do damage to such a fighter. This is a good measuring stick.

I have imaginary money that says he looks great, but not perfect, and handles his business. Then 2019 is a little more interesting at 147, ain't it?
