  • Comments Thread For: Wilder Co-Manager: Fury Rematch Bigger Now Than Joshua Fight

LOS ANGELES Now that they've gone through something so stirring together, Tyson Fury isn't only literally a bigger opponent for Deontay Wilder than Anthony Joshua. According to Shelly Finkel, Wilder's co-manager, a rematch with the 6-feet-9 Fury now is a bigger fight than Wilder-Joshua. Wilder (40-0-1, 39 KOs) still wants his shot to unify all of boxing's recognized heavyweight titles by battling the 6-feet-6 Joshua.

Wilder's poor showing against Fury has definitely devalued a fight between him and AJ.

Fury vs AJ is the biggest fight that could be made at HW now.

Yes Fury won but I am not mad at the draw. two KDs would give you 4 rounds by default. Round 1 and Round 7 Wilder did better than Fury. cant wait for a rematch in UK will be huge.

Wilder doesn't want to see Joshua in the UK, so let's move on. The guy actually wanted a 50/50 split with the fight held in the US. The fight isn't as big because Wilder has no more bargaining power after the entire world outside the US believes Fury got screwed and most people in the US think that too.

My guess is that they'll overly sweeten the pot for Fury and beg him to fight Wilder in Vegas.

He was the "Wilder" judge. They had a Wilder judge and a draw judge on the payroll. That's how these scams work. Bookies would have lost big time if Fury got the W, and they would have made a killing with a Draw. A Wilder win would have made them money also but no where near the money they made with that draw. It was Canelo-GGG bookie Christmas all over again. Ronchin took the place of Byrd.

Wilder doesn't have the balls to rematch Fury, let alone in the UK. Wilder will fight super duper Brazil and continue barking AJ is avoiding him despite having Hearn's offer (% split and 2-way rematch) on his table. Alabama fraud got exposed by a cherry-pick, who came off 2,5 years of extreme obesity, alcohol and drug abuse. Embarrassing!

Stevenson/Gvozdyk had the same set up. Points at stoppage Gvozdyk couldn't win, draw was setup.

Wilder will sign on to the Joshua fight now. He'll figure he has a better chance of knocking out someone who's trying to do the same to him, than knocking out someone who's intending to to score a unanimous win on the cards.
After the unification the undisputed champ (my money's on Joshua) will only have time to line up the mandatory challengers if he want's to keep hold of all the belts. So Fury will need to get himself to the top of at least one of the sanctioning body's rankings for another shot - which judging from that performance he is more than capable of.

Finkel trying to add leverage for AJ fight by saying that (fury fight is bigger) . If you add a rematch clause for all the marbles the 2 fights would make vastly more money than 1 more fury / wilder fight.. If wilder loses to fury he only has 1 super fight...wilder hasn't come all this way to 1) not fight for all the titles and 2) not commercially maximise his earning potential against a more static beatable opponent in Joshua ..do the sums, when the BT figures come out you will see...senior Hearn and finkel( if they have any sense) will meet behind closed doors first to explore the sums over 2 fights in London and Vegas ..
