  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: Usyk Will Be Ringside, Has Eyes on Whyte-Chisora Winner

Eddie Hearn predicts Oleksandr Usyk will have some headline heavyweight bouts in 2019 as there are few options remaining for him at cruiserweight. The highly gifted undisputed cruiserweight champion defended all four of his belts against the now retired Tony Bellew in Manchester earlier this month courtesy of an eighth-round knockout.

Usyk vs Whyte would be a pretty ballsy entrance to the heavyweight division. Whyte is a contender, definitely top 10 so this would be quite the statement. I'd be stoked for this matchup!

Maybe Usyk should stay at Cruiserweight.
Even if he outboxes some of these guys will he be able to get a decision? I've rewatched the Usyk-Bellew fight a few times and I just don't see how anyone could have Bellew ahead, yet two of the three judges had him ahead.
Bellew's success throughout the fight, including the first three rounds, is exaggerated.

Realistically will he be able to get a decision against Joshua or Wilder?
I have hard time believing anyone, not just Usyk, will be able to get a decision against Joshua.
We have already seen fighters be down on the scorecards against Wilder when they probably should have been up.
It's going to be difficult to get a decision against those two I feel.

Great fight but if Usyk fights whyte it'll be after Whyte loses to AJ in April should that fight happen.

Whyte won't be interested in a fight against Usyk.

That fight can derail his plans of fighting for the world title.

I think he should stay at Cruiserweight he can build a dynasty there

Look Bellew WAS competitive for several rounds with Usyk

I'm telling you now if you put Bellew in with Joshua, Joshua would walk forward, smash straight through his guard and knock him out cold in about 60 seconds

It really is a different game at heavyweight with these guys 6'6" 250lbs.

I like Usyk a lot and think he can build an insane record at cw but I don't like him vs fury/wilder/aj

He already said that he's interested. Of course AJ would be a priority for him.

It was a travesty that Bellew was ahead innthat fight, same way it was a travesty:

                  Ward was ahead of Kovalev
                  Canelo was ahead of GGG
                  Joshua was ahead of Klitschko
                  Wilder was ahead of Spilka
                  Wilder was ahead of Ortiz

There are two obvious reasons here:

                  1. Eastern European fighters are hated by the establishment
                  2. Those fighters were all side promotion fighters and establishment fighters.

There is an agenda to protect black and Hispanic fighters.

Usyk is a man on a mission, beware!!!

The only fight that have sense is the Usyk vs Mairis Briedis 2 in the cruiser weight, but after that last performance of Mairis Briedis against Noel Gevor in the quarter finals of the WBSS season 2. I have second doubts, because Noel Gevor was robbed. I am sorry, but Noel out boxed Mairis Briedis and Usyk have improve after that fight. I give Usyk a great chance to out box Mairis Briedis in the rematch. Denis Lebedev vs Usyk have not sense for Usyk and that is going to be a mismatch. I want the rematch of Michael Hunter vs Usyk in the heavy weight division as a first fight for Usyk.
