The opponent for the return of David Tua (44-3-1, 38 KOs) has been named. Tua will face 40-year-old journeyman Edward Gutierrez (15-2). It is said that 16 of Gutierrez's bouts have been in his home state of Illinois, and most of them at local Illinois hotels.

Tua fights on the undercard of Cedric Kushner’s Gotham Boxing Promotions extravaganza, which is set for July 26th, at the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center in New York City.

The main event will feature Shannon Briggs (47-4-1, 41 KOs) in a revenge bout with the first man to ever beat him, Darroll Wilson (27-8-2, 21 KOs).

David Tua should just retire and not disgrace himself fighting a 40 yr old journeyman. Most boxers have retired by 40 years old not turning pro as a boxer. How many years has this guy been a journeyman at 40 years old? This has to be a joke. Please tell me this is a joke. David Tua has fallen and it looks like he will never get up.

David Tua is a slob. He will be fighting Garing Lane at the local dog track soon.

He had a fight reported for America's Fight Night on Showtime with Shannon Briggs that got called off immediately - and he's been linked to a fight with Calvin Brock.

Tua's easing back into the division tentatively because that's how he wants it, not because there aren't bigger fights out there...
