Was Mayorga vs Hoya a fixed fight?

I have been having this argument with a few acquaintances of mines, that claim up and down that the Mayorga vs Hoya fight is a fixed fight, that the fight was rigged to begin with and that Hoya just paid off Mayorga to take a dive. I disagree wholeheartedly, but we will never see eye to eye.

Now we have argued this, lets hear what everybody else here has to say.

I've pondered this possibility myself. I should admit that I was high every single time.

But honestly, I can see why someone might think it was a work. Mayorga didn't put up any kind of fight, and it was kinda weird the way Mayo went to Oscar personally to beg for more money.

He was clearly bothered at the final presser.

I think it is possible that a...ahem...gentlemen's agreement could have been made behind the scenes, but I doubt it.

Mayorga just didn't train for ****. No way he should have gained 18 pounds overnight as he said he did.

I'm nicaraguan, and my brother & sister claimed that for weeks after the fight, I (just like you) don't see it. In my eyes it was the non-stop ass whuppin' that Tito gave him that damaged him & made him easy work for DLH, IMHO Mayorga just didn't have much left at all.

it's cuz mayorga has good power but other then that he has very little skill . he swings wide is kinda slow for his weight whats he have that puts him at the level of the best

No chance. There was way too much animosity between them; DLH injured his hand which would be unnecessary if fixed; Tito had kicked Mayorga's ass already; he lost to Spinks on pts as Spinks is a boxer not puncer; +++ many other reasons.

It's funny how that happens. I know a few people who insist every DLH fight is a fix in some form or other whether he wins or loses.
