Comments Thread For: Bivol Would Move Down To 168 For Canelo, Callum Smith Fights

Alvarez vs Bivol could actually be a good fight, if Bivol isn't drained at 168. He's a small LHW, so it would be nice if that could happen.

Canelo ain't gonna fight Bivol, not unless there's a rehydration clause more stringent than Fielding's. Bivol's a young, bigger, and more technically sound version of GGG. Now, Smith and Ramirez are big cruiserweight sized SMWs, they definitely can **** with Bivol.

Bivol either needs to move to 168 if he's going to stay his current size (possibly even 160. He is no bigger than Charlo or BJS or Jacobs IMO, and Canelo probably outweighs him at this point too despite being shorter, just like Pascal did despite being shorter), or, Bivol needs to bulk up or at least rehydrate more after the weigh in. Even if it's just water weight, that extra mass is what is missing from his punches and punch resistance.
So either get bigger to stay at 175, which would work very well IMO, or stay the same size but move down to 168, or even take off 3-4 lbs to get down to 160.
Those are all good options for Bivol. What's a really BAD option is to fight the top guys at light heavyweight when you only weigh 181 lbs in the ring. That's asking for trouble no matter how skilled you are.

If Bivol does move to 168 though, yeah Canelo or Smith would be cool, but the fight I want to see is Bivol vs Jermall Charlo at 168. They are the same size, so they should be in the same weight class. Charlo's team is just smarter than Bivol's, or less interested in challenging themselves, you choose. I'd say they're smarter to have Charlo at a lower weight class where he can be more dominant, but also risk adverse since he's not fighting anyone good there. With Bivol I'd like to see the best of both worlds, move down to 160, but fight the best guys there. I think Bivol could go down as one of the most spectacular boxer punchers at middleweight we've ever seen. But at 175, he's just the boxer half, not the puncher half, at least not unless he starts rehydrating more.
I mean, if they can get Bivol to a functional 186 to 190 lbs in the ring at light heavyweight, I think we'll see he's a big puncher at 175 too. But at 181 lbs, no chance, not unless his opponent is also only 181 lbs, which Bivol is not likely to find at light heavyweight, and maybe not even that regularly at super middleweight, which is what's so crazy about the fact Bivol weighed that. What is his team even doing lol? It's crazy to me. 181 fight night weight is what you expect to see from top middleweights these days, like Canelo I'm betting. It's not what you should see from a top light heavyweight. Get your **** together Team of Bivol!
