Adrien the Problem Broner will engage in the biggest fight of his life in January as he attempts to dust off the aging Manny Pacman.
After absorbing the initial promotional campaign, the overall reaction by the fans, I have come to the following three conclusions.
This is going to be a big fight.
Adrien Broner is one of the distasteful pugilist in history, but he sells, he puts butts in seats, he is in the top 10 earners in the sport over the last 6 years or so, but in reality, he has never headlined an elite level PPV show, never, he has not gotten that much mainstream exposure if you think about, if casual sports fans knew who Broner was, he would be much more famous.
That's all going to change now, Manny is making his triumphant return to Las Vegas, there will be more American eyes on Broner in the buildup than ever before, and they will ALL want to see him lose, that's going to kick up the buyrate, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of fans.
This will be a social event, Hollywood, hip hop, politicians, the works, it will be a diet Mayweather fight, not as big, but the same type of gathering, esp with the character that Broner is.
The drop will be huge, Vegas is going to make a sh't load of money, and the because the fight is virtually a 50/50 fight, the bookies are going to as busy as they have been in years.
Huge fight, at the box office, and that will translate to PPV buys
2. Fans love the fight
This fight has good buzz, and there seems to be an odd synergy between Broner and Manny, it's very comical actually, even the Thanksgiving tweet was funny. These two are doing a greta job of selling the fight, and it will only get more entertaining when it gets personal, which all Broner promotions do.
NSB has some of the most stubborn boxing curmudgeons on the planet, and the fight is getting positive reviews all over these threads, people want to see it, it's entertaining, and it could be an awesome offensive fight.
The hardcore like this fight, both men def have their haters, but everyone is going to watch this fight.
3. The fight will do between 400,000 and 500,000 buys
and thats conversative, if public interest in Manny sky rockets because of the antics of Broner, this fight could make a run at 600,000 buys, the live gate will be off the Richter scale due to public, hardcore, and casual interest, the Casinos are going to swim in money the night of the fight.
This fight has it all, the juice, the star power, and two guys who desperately need to win to sustain their careers. If Broner can stay out of trouble, the fight has a chance to be one of the highest grossing shows of the year.
The question is pricing, if Showtime goes off the rails, and charges 80 bucks for the fight, that could net them an almost 100,000 buy loss as people will just use their fire stick, or other illegal steams.
As it stands now, the fight will do half a million buys, if the promotion does better than expected, and somehow Mayweather inserts himself into the narrative, the buyrate will climb even higher than these projections are projecting.
