The only problem with your comparison is that Jacobs doesn’t block punches with his face.

comparing hurds performance vs lara to Canelos vs lara, I think out class is a strong word. Ggg putting him in icu/morgue is also a stretch.

I’m a let you in on a little secret seasoned fight fans know. Triangle theories don’t mean shi.t in boxing. Also, let’s not pretend that Canelo and Hurd fought the same Lara. Canelo fought a guy that was capable of remaining on a bicycle, boxing and moving for twelve rounds. Hurd fought a guy who’s old legs no longer allowed that style. And one that was forced to stand and fight a man that was naturally much bigger and stronger......and more than held his own.

it's not about triangle theories genius. It's about making a point that it's not like Canelo has shown himself to be levels beyond Hurd to the point that we should believe would wash him. Fact is Hurd beat both lara and trout and more convincing fashion than Canelo did. And before you wanna throw age around to talk about fighters slowing down, please remember that aside from trout and Kara, Canelo's two biggest wins were vs guys who were 36 yrs old.

Hagler was light years ahead of Hurd in terms of skill. He was also defensively responsible. Hurd absorbs an insane amount of punishment to get his offense off. He also benefits from genetics that allows him to shrink down to 154 and fight guys much smaller, rehydrate, and it doesn’t affect him. Very similar to Chavez Jr when he was shrinking down to 160 and walking into the ring a cruiserweight. He walked through everything smaller men threw at him and kept coming. But the second he got in the ring with Fonfara, someone his own size. He learned that his ability to absorb shots wasn’t as invincible as he thought it was. The same will happen to Hurd. Especially against a guy like GGG.

Devon Alexander beat Maidana more convincingly than Floyd. Does that mean Floyd wasn’t levels above Alexander? Chris John beat JMM more convincingly than Pacquiao ever did. Is Pac not levels above John? Hatton beat Castillo more convincingly than Floyd. Was Floyd not levels above Hatton? Because it sure seemed like he was when they fought.

Hurd Jermell has got me more amped than Mikey - Spence. Yes, I'll be watching that one but it'll be more a case of watching a bad car crash and not being able to turn away. Hurd doesn't get the props he deserves for beating Lara. And Lara didn't get the props for going toe-to-toe with Hurd. I need to watch that fight again.

This is up their as FOTY for me.
