I don't pay a LOT of attention to the lower weights, but I remember him wrecking Jamie Conlan and putting on a few other decent performances. Was talked about as a potential rising star. Just looked on BoxRec, and his last two fights were a competitive decision win over a 14-3 fighter, and a draw against a 16-2-4 fighter. Wtf happened?
What happened to Jerwin Ancajas?

Arum screwed his career, at least from a fan perspective. A year or whatever ago Ancajas wanted to fight the best and received an offer to be in one of the planned Superfly cards. Around the same time Arum is having problems with HBO so he signed Ancajas, got him to turn down the HBO offer and set him on the Zurdo career path of low risk opponents in fights nobody cares about while name dropping the best in the division in interviews/PR releases.Comment

I think he had an off night. It happens to even the best fighters. Honestly, everyone expected more from him. I believe his next fight will be with Rungvisai. That fight is a scary one. It will probably make or break his career. Rungvisai is a beast!Comment

The three reigning Filipino world champions are WBA welterweight titlist Senator Manny Pacquiao, IBF super flyweight ruler Jerwin Ancajas and WBO minimumweight king Vic Saludar. Michael Dasmariñas holds the IBO bantamweight belt but the IBO isn’t recognized as a major international body. Two Filipinos are interim WBA titleholders – featherweight Jhack Tepora and bantamweight Reymart Gaballo but they’re still not safely on the throne.
I didn't know they were gone because my old lady is Filipina and I watch ABS-CBN News and Sports nightly.
Forgot to add Nonito Donaire Jr, who beat Ryan Burnett of Northern Ireland for the WBA bantamweight title.
Bob Arum, says IBF super flyweight champ Jerwin Ancajas, is facing a show down against WBC champ and consensus number one Srisaket Sor Rungvisai Feb/March of 2019.
I don't call that a disappearing act.Comment

Exactly this. People judging these opponents when they’ve probably never watched them.
Sultan was coming off an impressive win over 2 weight world champion John Riel Casimero and was mandatory challenger. That was a good win for Ancajas.
Barrios was admittedly a little more undiscovered, but had been competitive and arguably beat solid guys like Nieves and Martinez. He clearly beat Ancajas as well IMO, definitely deserves a rematch.Comment
