He wanted "silly money," according to Whyte.
This is what happens when clowns like Wilder wants silly money.
    Everyone follows suit.
They all think money grows on trees in the Hearn backyard.
Of course, Ortiz won't admit it.

Believable. Certainly more so than Ortiz not knowing why he's fighting Kauffman instead of a big money fight against Whyte, they really expect us to believe Ortiz and his trainer didn't ask?

Lol when he said "where not just going to fight anybody if it means nothing." WTF is Cojanu and Kaufmann then, hardly career defining fights.

Not knowing about the 3 fight deal seems odd as it reported quite widely. You'd think he would asked his manager if it was real or not.

And lol at not knowing what happened with the WBA, you know what happened you failed a doping test and were dropped from their rankings. Then saying it was a cross contamination, what the hell they admitted taking the medication for blood pressure but not making the authorities know about it but suddenly he wasn't taking the meds and it was cross contamination? Get your story straight.

Based on that interview they seem to know very little in regards to what is happening on the business side of his career. Didn't even know if Breazeale wanted the fight or not. Fight doesn't happen it's an automatic duck yet they don't even know reasons why it didn't happen.

Whyte was always going to fight Chisora, comes down to simple economics. If Ortiz was a draw he'd had people lining up to fight him but he isn't and so he's the one with his hand out looking for the payday. At some point he needs to take a risk again like he did with Wilder. Agree to taking a risky fight for little money and hope someone agrees like Wilder. Maybe if he does this deal with Hearn he can get some meaningful fights because currently he's wasting his time fighting Kaufmann.

“I offered to fight Ortiz years ago, but he didn’t want to know,” Whyte said. “He didn’t even want to know this summer and asked for silly money, coming off his knockout loss to Wilder. And [he] made it clear that he wouldn’t be ready for July 28, which was the date we had available. Funnily enough, it didn’t stop him from fighting someone else on that day.”

Dillian Whyte doesn’t understand why he needs to go through Luis Ortiz to get a shot at Deontay Wilder’s WBC heavyweight title. Not only did Wilder knock out Ortiz seven months ago, according to Whyte, Ortiz didn’t want to fight him July 28. Wilder reiterated this week during a press tour for his December 1 fight against Tyson Fury that Whyte must beat Ortiz in a WBC elimination match before he’ll consider defending his title against the British contender.

I can understand why he wants silly money that he may never get again.
He got $500K from the Wilder fight, so he probably wants $2 mil.
                I understand.
What I don't understand is why Wilder wants silly money,
when he's the one begging for the AJ fight and sure of beating Joshua.
Beat the crap out of the guy, then take the A-side helms, and be the one to dictate the rematch, then satisfy your greed as much as you can.
Why ask for silly money? Why are the 3 titles no longer important all of a sudden?

                  Silly money?
Wilder offered AJ $50 million & with that deal, Wilder would get $50 mil as well.
Why take a fight for 15 mil when you can get the same fight on neutral ground for 50 mil?
                  What would you do?

I'd ask what the terms were, like they did. We now know why they didn't want to show them. The deal involved BT sports, which made it impossible for Joshua to accept seeing that he is signed to SKY. You got fooled.

But this thread isn't about that, Stay on topic or GTFO.
