Where I was going. I am lost how Trip G has developed such hatred. If this happens, it is a serious fight. While not the star studded affair of the CW series, the Super MW series was still an accomplishment to win, and Smith stamped it as his. How is this NOT a huge fight?

If he stayed to fight Charlo, I am sure the people who hate him would be saying he is staying at 160 to fight a blown up super welterweight who has not proven anything at 160, especially if Golovkin won. This is a much riskier fight in my opinion.

Hasn't done anything at 160 but the FIGHTERS don't want that work being in the mandatory spot Uncle Al made happen. Do you SEE? Or are you just ignoring it?? golovkin was never the too much risk, not enough reward cuz there were NO good fighters when he had the straps plus that was just said through the airwaves to get people to believe that & NOW that we DO have the good fighters in the division he is avoiding them. Do you SEE? Uncle Al got him to the mandatory position & they STILL running from Jermall!

I agree that Jermall is being avoided. To say that there wasn't any money fights at 160 when Golovkin was coming up is false. Sergio Martinez and Cotto were big fights, and they avoided GGG. Money was a factor, just like with Jermall, but high risk low reward was the main reason for both. If Golovkin fights Smith, that is a tough fight, he'll be giving up a lot of size. If the money's right, take the risk.

It was Hearn not ggg or his team that's saying this. Ggg moving up at the age of 37 to smw to fight Smith is suspect since prime ggg didn't want to move up for ward 3-4 years ago. All those excuses and now he doesn't keep to any of them including he's going to fight mw he's whole career.

Lets see if ggg even takes this challenge. He's not known to fight challenges where he's even close to an underdog ever. Smith would have been destroyed by ward, froch, etc imo so ggg should be able to win if he's as good as advertised.

Sergio did but cotto fight was there for ggg. Ggg just wouldn't compromise to meet cotto at 155 or 156. I mean only all the top boxers in history have compromised when they were building their names up but I guess ggg is truly special!

Dude hasn't got a title, ergo he doesn't have a mandatory. The WBC have stipulated that he must beat Charlo if he wants to be instated as mandatory to Canelo - but that is in no way a mandatory fight in the ordinary sense. Sanctioning orgs have no leverage to make anyone fight anyone unless they have a belt, and even then a fighter is always entitled to just drop that trinket in the trash. Woulda thought anyone with even a basic understanding of how the sport works would know that.

Guess what he took fights everyone thought he would kill ( Canelo Jacobs) and was exposed as not a fraud. He's a good boxer but he's not what ggg said he was.

Now with no resume, everyone will pick him apart. If he was humble and didn't call out everyone /make new excuses at every turn, he would have much more respect with fans.

Comparing Mikey and Golovkin? No. Merely pointing out an error and asking a question to determine if the poster I was responding to is exhibiting double standards or not. The Mikey vs Campbell fight just happened to be next on the list of those 'ordered' by the WBC on Oct 3rd on the site I looked at.

Smith's style looks too economic for someone like Golovkin, who will press him as hell. The jab might not be enough.

If Smith won convincingly, I'd take my hat off to him.

Either way I would be excited to watch that fight.
