  • Canelo is absolutely p4p#1 and has the resume to prove it unlike the rest of the p4p guys but we all know how boxing media could be.

      Facts:
No organization has Canelo as #1 P4P.
Every single one has Loma in top3, majority at #1.
In all the current rankings, Canelo is ranked exactly 1 spot above Golovkin.

      TBRB: Canelo 7, Golovkin 8
      Ring & ESPN: Canelo 3, GGG 4.

To me, P4P rankings begin and end with TBRB. That's why that organization was created in the first place, and the one that is independent and realistic.
I’m sorry to hear that you think Loma should be ranked above Canelo. Sending prayers your way.

The world we live in where merit and wins don’t matter anymore. Can’t even beat p4p fighters to increase your ranking anymore because someone looked good against Sosa. :/

      What a world, guys. Lmao.

99% of the boxing world. That’s a good one.

        in a hypothetical fight.....

hypothetical because..... THAT is what P4P is, hypothetical

        IF, Canelo fought Lomachenko.....

and, IF..... all things (weight) were equal.....

what I mean by that is..... if both guys were naturally the same size..... so nobody going up, and nobody coming down..... just imagine that both fighters were naturally the same size..... who would win?..... just based on skills/style and form.....?

how much would you bet on Canelo..... ?

btw I like BOTH guys, but have been riding with Canelo longer

        it is not about resume

resume should be factored in, because it adds that proven factor..... but it is not essential, because proven guys lose to unproven guys all the time

that would be a very difficult fight to pick

I’d go with Canelo over Loma in a p4p scenario. The matchup favors Canelo stylistically. Not only that, but in a p4p scenario, we have to factor how things would look and scale. Which means Loma will have the obviously faster feet but Canelo will have the faster hands but there will be an enormous power difference. Canelo is borderline devastating against most guys his size. Loma is quick if you dont have the reflexes or courage to press him and we’ve seen what happens if you just press him. The right hand that a guy like Linares landed on Loma puts him to sleep against Canelo.

I can’t see Loma either hurting Canelo and most definitely not discouraging him and he can apparently fight freakish aggressive now in addition to having sublime yet vicious/agressive counter abilities.

This is no knock on Loma, I just think there’s likely not one fighter on the planet, p4p who is aggressive and can beat Canelo. The best way to fight Canelo used to always be going backwards and that robably still rings true. The only guys who have had real “success” or seemed to frustrate him have made Canelo move forward and would take advantage of their longer reach. Both Lara and Floyd had longer reaches and made him come to them. Loma has great feet but he goes forward a lot...and Canelo has been prolific in landing that right hand vs Southpaws coming in.

It’s crazy to think Canelo would actually be a few years younger and have the “youth” advantage as well.

Canelo has such a bigger body of work that has only gotten better to pull scenarios from.

What we know is Loma is no Floyd nor fights like him...and what we do know is that Canelo can now be a 1000x better agressive fighter than Salido....

there are plenty of reasons to favor Lomachenko

my point was, that is how to view P4P..... not fixate on resume

Pac has the best resume, yet he is not ranked P4P

Golovkin has a shlt resume, and yet he is ranked P4P

That goes for current top fighters though. You go by who seems to be currently operating at the highest level and when the eye test isnt enough it goes to who’s operating on the highest level against better fighters. And right now that’s been Canelo.

It’s usually a no brainer when you get two top p4p fighters against each other. Its one thing to look amazing against Kirkland or Smith or Sosa or Horn, etc etc...but when you look amazing against a fellow p4p fighter? Easy.

People make the mistake of thinking a very close fight with
GGG is a bad thing but its the oppposite because of how impressive they both were. Canelo looked incredible DESPITE GGG showing incredible skill as well.

When youre both p4p fighters and you both come out looking even better than people give you credit for? Thats the absolute best case scenario for the winner because it was a real clash.

FACT: Golovkin has a shlt resume, but is still ranked P4P

with Lomachenko, the eye test is enough

that fight would be very hard to pick

So double standard for GGG and Loma? How is the eye test enough for Loma? GGG is like the final boss version of Salido and I’d ironically pick GGG over Loma and I think GGG has shown to be arguably more skilled against better opposition (which is obviously up to debate.) GGG was easily more impressive knocking dozens of men out. Go figure. But thats p4p for you. Everyone has different criteria

yea, lets agree to disagree on that one LMAO

the point with Golovkin, is that P4P is NOT about resume

the point about Lomachenko..... as a fighter, he is at least a clear level above Golovkin in terms of skills/style/ability

it comes down to style..... Golovkin is a debilitating puncher against guys who are clearly sub-par..... but not with a guy even on Danny Jacobs level

Lomachenko is a MUCH better fighter, no question about that

                      there is no contradiction

if Golovkin was not included because of the eye test, then why was he included?

it certainly wasn't because of a stellar resume
