  • What will Usyk weigh at heavyweight?

I have seen many people saying he should come in at 225-230lbs

Well at Cruiserweight he doesn't look drained at all, in fact wuite the opposite, on the scales he looks very healthy and filled out, big muscle size and faint abs

Now last night he was getting caught fairly often by Bellew who isn't a very accurate or fast puncher, and i know, i know it was "all part of the plan" to start late, but i don't care what anyone says, getting punched in the head wasn't part of the plan.

So if he piles on another 25-30lbs of ballast to move around the ring I don't see that being useful.

David Haye weighed around 212lbs in some of his heavyweight fights and he was a lot more drained at cw than usyk was.

    Haye @ 200

    Usyk @ 200

Usyk is clearly at least 4-5% higher bodyfat than haye at the same height and weight

I don't think he needs to gain 20lbs. I think 210 is his best goal.

Thats a poor pic to use as a comparison, I’d wager they are very similar bf %.

He will be 220 to 225lbs, i would guess he is around 210 when he re-hydrates as a cruiser.

He is 6’3 and quite broad shoulderd, he has the frame to carry extra mass well ( no **** )

From memory, notable guys who moved up in recent times were Cunningham, have, bellew, huck, tarver and usyk. Most of these dudes weighed in at around 210, granted they came in shape.

Tarver wasn't in shape at weighed around 220. Haye was 210 during his first run at heavy. Only during his comeback he weighed in at an ineffective 220+.

So I reckon most cruisers effective weight at heavy ranges from 210 - 220.

I suspect he already fights at between 210 and 215 post rehydration. His mobility and stamina are two of his best assets so he really doesn't want to add much mass. 220 - 225 max I'd say.

David and Usyk have different builds, but I do think they're similar bf wise at cruiser, but also agree Usyk should stick to 210-220 lbs range. He'll grow accustomed to a heavier weight, but that shouldn't be 220+ in my opinion.

215 or 220 lbs would be plenty. he's not going to beat these guys with power, or go out there trying to take their best shots either. he needs to maximize what he does well - which is use angles and throw combinations - while minimizing his disadvantage in size. he's got the legs to keep guys from leaning on him, but he's got to do everything behid the jab or else these guys are not going to respect him, and they'll get him on the ropes.

usyk needs to be economical, because he will be working much harder against a 245 lb athlete like joshua. if he can get "big enough" to take the shots and also have enough power to get respect then he will be better suited to be light.

billy conn gave joe louis a lot of trouble until louis caught up to him. fighters at HW will not be used to the kind of speed and motion and approach that you'll see from usyk. fast HW usually end up being bombers, actually. they see shots that they can land, adn they get guys out. usyk will be boxing for a points win, maybe an attrition stoppage or a "finish" of opportunity. otherwise he will be on the move and trying to win rounds.

i'm actually very excited about his fights with the big three HW. he'll being something new to the table and make for a better fight than a lot of these out of shape or older dudes.

Clearly 4-5% higher bodyfat? Smh. He should fight at a weight were he is comfortable and doesn't take away from conditioning and movement.
