I’m not seeing the motivation for either fighter to make that fight. If it did happen, for whatever reason, Usyk would be a big favorite and deservedly so.

Usyk KOs Ward in my opinion. Ward is much too small to fight Usyk. The jump from 175 to 200 is a harder jump than a cruiserweight going to heavyweight which is almost no jump at all. Usyk probably weighs about 215 on fight night for his cruiserweight fights. Usyk is bigger than many great heavyweights of the past. If Ward weighs more than 190 on fight night it will only slow him down. I think Usyk is faster and a better boxer and fighter than Ward even on a PFP basis. Of course Usyk hits much harder and take a punch much better and averages a lot more punches thrown per round than Ward. Keep Ward at 175 because Ward against Usyk is a mismatch.Comment

Well lets not pretend that Kovalev didn’t put Ward down and arguably won the first fight. Even in the second fight it was pretty even until Kovalev fully gassed.
We all saw that Kovalev has serious issues. Just listen his trainer at the time - he was drunk during his camp.
Well done for Ward, he is a HOF no doubt, but lets be realistic. His chances against Usyk would be very slim. That doesn’t take anything from him. If they were the same size, that would have been an interesting match-up. I still think Ward would struggle with a high output though..Comment

Honestly I don't think Ward is big enough to challenge Usyk, he was a regular size super middleweight and a smallish light heavy. Cruiser is a step too far, despite his fantastical insistence that he was going all the way up to heavyweight. It's a pretty moot point anyway, because I'm now pretty sure Ward's not coming back and Usyk looks set to step up to heavyweight.Comment
