underated? i think so i beleive it seperates the men from the boys, being able to deal with all styles and reign as champ, for instance if tzyu beat vince philps and hatton, people would be like who are they, if judah beat baldomir big deal, if rjj beat tarver just another bum, there are alot of great fighters out there that dont get backed by televison examples being collazo and carlos qiuntana

You just did a 360 when you mentioned collazo and quintanna. I thought this thread was about un-appreciated champions who had long title reigns?
Tom "boom, boom" Johnson
Oralando Canazales
the japense wonglang (sp)
I can't think of others but these two defended their titles many times and didn't get big coverage of their fights.

it is i just brought up those two names not as champions but as good fighters that long reining champions would face, but not really get credit cause there not backed by the televison networks

Every case is different. Personaly I think its just about opponents and nothing else. Hopkins had a great reign but mostly all of those wins he had were against bums until late in his career. Calzaghe is the same and even Tszyu has a very overrated resume.
I much rather had seen Tszyu move up to 147 when the big names were there or Calzaghe fight Jones, Tarver or anyone. I wished Hopkins had fought Calzaghe but I dont fault him because he was going for history

hopkins proved himself as great later in his carrer, Trinidads going to kill him, hopkins aint beat nobody, we should of known you cant win that many fights agisnt hungry fighters with different styles, calazge, fraud lacy will kill him, you cant be a fraud with a long title reign like that, vernon forrest is amazing he beat mosley twice, now he is fighting some bum named mayorga for his title defence, i prefer the big fights two but title reigns need there respect,

Originally posted by Rockin1I was going to write a book about Tom Johnson. We had met one night at the gym and it got rollin'. He wanted to call it "Adversity On Top of Adversity". The stories that he told me were incredible to me and I believe every word of it from him.
