Comments Thread For: David Haye: Bellew's Left Hook Can Turn The Tide With Usyk

Former two division world champion David Haye is in agreement with some of the recent statements from other fighters, that Tony Bellew must use his left hook to overcome the massive odds on Saturday night. Bellew will attempt to pull off a major upset when he challenges Olympic gold medal winner Oleksandr Usyk for the WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF cruiserweight titles at the Manchester Arena.

Jesus this is the most I’ve ever heard about this left hook. In the last week they’ve been hyping it like it’s Wilder’s right hand.

Too much has been made of Bellews power. I’ll be more impressed if he can land it cleanly.

I get the feeling they're trying to make Usyk over-cautious about Bellew's left hook, and maybe leave himself open to a right.

You ain't wrong. I actually had to go through his fight footage to check if my memory was that bad, cos I never recalled it being anything particularly special. It turns out he has had moderate success with it against C listers who are already on their last legs, but I doubt Usyk is quivering in his boots.

I did find this gem that someone has loving compiled though...

David Gaye remembers getting knocked-out of the ring by one of them hooks.

... Andre Ward's prediction for Oleksandr Usyk v Tony Bellew: "I'mma go with Bellew. I know everybody's writing Bellew off, but how many times have they done that? I'mma go with the intangibles on this one."

It seems Ward has never seen Usyk fight. Plus he said "I have to see more of Usyk". Come on Ward. He has 400 amateur fights, Olympic Gold medalist, Undisputed World Champ and Ward still hasn't saw enough of Usyk ?
