  • Mosley/Vargas 2: The Rematch that Boxing DOESN'T Need

i dunno if a thread was made about this already, but i'll go on just in case.

i dont see any reason why mosley and vargas are wasting time fighting each other again when the welter division holds a helluva lot more for mosley and vargas doesnt need another ass-whooping. there was no controversy whatsoever in the first fight. it was a swelling caused by a punch (regardless of what that whiner vargas says), and mosley was (more or less) winning the fight. vargas is probly punch drunk so much so that he thinks that another fight with mosley will turn out differently.

vargas has lost all the real big fights in his career. oscar, tito, and mosley have all beat him by TKO. its time he decides to either find a new division, or a new set of opponents. hes still young at 28, and his record is still pretty impressive at 26-3 with 22 KOs. he doesnt need another fight with mosley.

mosley's career is probly winding down at this point. hes 42-4 with 36 KOs and 1 No Decision. he'll be 35 this september. he should get a few more big fights in the welter division before he decides to hang em up. and he also doesnt need another fight with vargas.

this fight is pointless. mosley won, no questions and no controversy. mosley won by TKO. that swelling was HUGE and the ref stopped the fight (like he warned vargas that he would) and rightly so. the first fight was a good fight and it was a close fight. but a 2nd fight wont do any good for either fighter's career, mosley in particular. he didnt need a 2nd fight with forrest, or wright, or vargas. i think the loser of this fight should retire, cuz a loss would permanently damage either fighter's career. there is so little to gain and so much to lose. i know this wont stop the fight from happening, but i think this is just a very pointless fight.

I honestly would like to see Mosley end his career fighting PBF. I believe he would put up a really great fight! Mosley has accomplished so much during his career, and it is only fitting that he should fight one last bout with an excellent boxer.

Because they made a lot of money last time. Might as well do it again when you can expect good money again.

What are you talking about ? the first fight generated very good PPV buys. Boxing still needs this. Both big name fighters with still alot to prove. They aint done yet. The swelling in Vargas's eye was not caused by a punch. I always believed it was a thumb in the eye. This is still a good fight and Vargas was coming back in the fight when they stopped it last time.

This is a good fight but it's not ppv worthy. I mean maybe I would have paid ppv for this like 4 years ago.

OR....you could pay double, and be AT THE FIGHT for $100

much better value than $50 to see it on TV
