Garcia making the Spence fight proved something to me

If fighters want to fight a certain guy, they will make it happen. Garcia literally took his career in his own hands, walked into Al's office and made it happen.

    Good stuff

If fighter wants to duck somebody he will, the way Garcia is ducking Lomachenko.

    Good stuff.

That's plain dumb, man. Quite aside from the fact that in my world you can only ever 'duck' mandatories anyway, it's hard to see how Spence is somehow a less risky fight than Lomachenko. Yeah, yeah, I've heard the rationalisations, but I also know you can spin any damn thing with half a brain (less than half a brain if some of the dudes on this site have anything to teach us).

End of the day Mikey's trying to take on the boogeyman - there's always gonna be someone else any fighter could have fought, but you give credit for the fights they do make.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a smart decision and I would far rather have seen the Lomachenko fight first, but you can't really dispute Mikey's balls here - though his sanity may just be in question

Isn't Garcia managed by Al Haymon? If so then it isn't too hard a fight to make

Don't start with the ****** comments. There's been tons of fighters with Haymon that haven't fought. Do I really need to go through the list?

Also, this same methodology applies to other fighters with different promoters. If a guy wants to fight, he'll find a way to fight

If he wants the fight then since they are both with Al it's easier to get it done then if one were with Arum and told Arum "get me that fight". It's that simple. The reason other fighters with Haymon didn't fight other guys with Haymon is because they were content on not fighting those other threats. Stephen Edwards made that clear on a mailbag awhile ago when he talked about how their process with Haymon works. He said typically with Haymon they are given 3 names and Al lets them choose who they would like to fight, so if fighters under Al aren't fighting other Haymon guys then it's on them.

This is what I'm saying right here. If a fighter wants to fight, he'll make it happen. It's really not complicated.

If he doesn't want to fight, he'll find a way not to fight

I doubt Haymon would make this fight if Garcia was tied down to PBC instead of flirting with every outfit out there. All that's happening is an uncommitted guy is being sacrificed to a staunch company man in order to reduce the former's leverage and puff up the latter. This is why people shouldn't be allowed to both promote and manage fighters

If not then even more props to Mikey if this fight really goes down. Not really a big fan of this fight as Spence will receive nothing but flak for taking it. It's a win/win for Mikey, unless Spence pulls something out of that Kell Brook bag and breaks his face
