Comments Thread For: Kell Brook-Michael Zerafa Set For December 8 At Sheffield Arena

It's not the high-profile fight Kell Brook sought, but he has an opponent for December 8.
Promoter Eddie Hearn announced Monday that Brook will square off against Australia's Michael Zerafa that night at Sheffield Arena in Brook's hometown of Sheffield, England. Brook, 32, will fight for the first time since knocking out Belarus' Sergey Rabchenko (29-4, 22 KOs) in the second round March 3 at Sheffield Arena.

Just makes no sense what is going on with Brook. What the hell is this fight? Dude blasted his opponent out last fight in like a round and now he is going to be fighting someone worse? Chasing the Khan fight was such a bad move. Should have stayed at 154 and tried to make noise there. Was it that he felt those guys were just too big for him? Because I certainly think he can compete with guys like Charlo/Lara/etc but not sure about HUGE 154 pounders like Munguia/Hurd. Though he will absolutely light those guys up in spurts, just don't know if he could hold them off for long enough. Certainly couldn't with Spence or GGG.

Kell brook making mandatory defences of a title he no longer holds. When u get pushed into a bum fight to keep ur title is one thing, but when you go out of your way to make pointless fight then thats totaly different. Absolute pointless fight

Not sure what's going on with him and Dominic Ingle either.

He's trying to get his weight down, he should come in very light. going back to 147 the long way.

If he doesn't get the Khan fight then this is a complete waste of time as presumably he'll just go back up again.

Kell Brook needs to be traded to PBC, Eddie has ZERO for him at 154 and if Khan doesn't fight him then what? But they have this man fighting a stripper...REALLY?

Brook's looking at this as a stay-busy fight until he can get in the ring with Khan. If he simply waits until March then he'd have been out of the ring for the best part of a year, which would only play into Khan's hands. He just needs to make sure he doesn't completely overlook Zerafa like Khan did with Sam Vargas, otherwise at best he looks as bad as Khan did.
As to whether or not Brook stays boxing to challenge for the WBA title this apparently is an eliminator for, after he gets big bucks for sparking out Khan? I'm not too sure he could compete against someone the size of Hurd, look at what resulted from the size difference between Munguia and Saddam Ali.
