I'm still trying to understand the strategy with all these PBC PPV's.

If they are like $30 PPV's then maybe I get the move, but if they are standard PPV's prices I don't get this move at all.

And while I agree streaming is the future I still think DAZN could be too early on the scene. I don't think that is the case, but I think it could be the case & my feeling that it isn't too early could be wrong.

I'm also curious as to how sustainable DAZN is if it doesn't acquire a major sport or two. Or if things go as I suspect & the major sports take out the middleman completely & start streaming their own product themselves. Cuz what boxing fans keep ignoring about DAZN is its a sports platform not a boxing platform.

So I think this battle is far from over & DAZN's W is far from its destiny.

We will know by this month when the PBC promotion kicks up. They have 2 big events in December the PPV and the FOX card.

They will start pushing those I'm assuming this week.

And I believe DAZN was lurking boxing before they made their move.
No doubt, the PBC and Matchroom Boxing is a match made in Heaven. They complement each other very well.

I don’t see that happening. Matchroom works way more with GoldenBoy and see them working more together now that they are both in DAZN. What promoters does PBC work with ? DiBella? I see DiBella moving his fighters to DAZN due to PBC keeping most of their fighters inactive.

The beauty of streaming is that DAZN can provide as many dates as a promoter wants.

Well after trying to Pouch Fighters from PBC and Failing so far...that will NEVER Happen now! Just have to wait and see what things are looking like in 3-4 years after PBC Showtime and Fox deals are over.

Also have to wait and see how things play out with DAZN, fans for some reason think DAZN will just keep giving out this money no matter what, no they're going to want to SEE a return for their money in Subscribers. If they don' see that who's to say DAZN won't be the one cutting back or approaching a Al Haymon themselves for a Massive Deal after his current TV Deals are Up

DAZN honestly should've went to GBP, Top Rank or PBC first as Arum Mentioned months ago. Who ridiculous idea was it anyway to let try and let HIM build up DAZN US when he is not even from the US for one and secondly he doesn't even have the Roster to drum up interest in the US. His next US Event is in Kansas of all places

Now DAZN UK, if they can make that happen then yeah Eddie has that Market in Control and that would be a success considering how much UK Fans praise DAZN Despite the fact that they don't even have it

Idk that a promoter can pouch fighters w/o a promoter. I think you can be sued for trying to pouch fighters. I believe Oscar already got sued when he pouched Manny when he was with TR & he got threatened with a lawsuit by Ellerbe when he tried to pouch Tank on twitter of all places.

Yea I ultimately think thats the move for DAZN once the Fox deal is up. To offer a deal to Haymon. You win boxing by offering promoters deals not fighters. Fighters come & go. Give promoters money (or Haymon) & they can keep the fighters coming in long term.

Yea I honestly don't get why DAZN didn't offer PBC a deal. I'm not even sure they didn't. It would seem like PBC would be among the people you'd be taking to for the mere fact they got the best promotional free agents in the game. But who knows.

I agree. Not sure if most of the boxing demographic in the US can even understand Hearn's English or style. I personally never found him charismatic or relatable. Comes across as a snake oil salesman.

                  Beware!

The reason DAZN didn’t go after those promotional companies/advisor is because DAZN is a UK based company and they went with what they are comfortable with. Hearn and the DAZN top dogs gave a good relationship outside of boxing.

But in hindsight they could have really took over if they gave that deal to Haymon. And then they still could have gone after GGG and Canelo, though SHO would have opened up for GBP.

Either way it will be interesting to see how all this plays out. DAZN is loaded with cash but boxing will have to be worth it for them to invest 200+ million a year in boxing or not, especially once they go after other big sports league.

Good point. Didn't consider that. If PBC was already signed to DAZN Showtime likely woulda broken the bank trying to sign Canelo. DAZN seems to have big pockets, but I think the allure of sticking with PPV & GBP having dibs on Showtime dates would probably be too sexy an option to pass on.
