Johnny Nelson "Bellew is technically better than Usyk"
Collapse

It doesn't. It was a ****** thing to say, I didn't mean to defend it I was just explaining to folks not to expect Nelson to actually be speaking about technique or going on long rants about what Usyk can't do.
Personally I was interested in hearing technical flaws. He didn't have anything like that to talk about so I thought it was less silly then pretending like Usyk has glaring flaws.Comment

Dave Coldwell, Bellew's trainer agrees with Nelson unsurprisingly. He says Bellew has the ability and experience to adapt whereas Usyk is dependant on a fast, flashy amateur style which relies heavily on overwhelming opponents with output (similar to Calzaghe I guess).. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HRtsyjyy1wComment

I disagree, I think it's just a role he plays in order to incite on-air debate and viewer engagement. If you just had a few sensible and knowledgeable people discussing boxing civilly during promotional programming and in between bouts then a lot of casuals would tune out. It's low-brow but it probably works. So he's not an idiot, just a sell-outI've said this for years but I do not believe Nelson watches Boxing or is a fan of Boxing.
I believe he was an athletic guy who went to Brendan Ingles gym and they moulded him into a decent fighter and he made a living off that.
He just says too much insane stuff to actually watch Boxing regularly.
How he has kept a job at Sky for so long I'll never know.Comment

He is obvious giving a biased point of view because he is a fanboy of Tony Bellew's because they are both British.Comment

Often the 3-4 guys they have commentating have to take different positions when it comes to predicting fights, and someone then has to talk up the underdog so the fight looks much more competitive than it is on paper. The UFC do the same on FOX and it's annoying and really phony .. I hope they all stop doing that.
Keep it real, and if it's terrible matchmaking over and over again, don't fucking sugar coat it, expose it.
Nelson is a disgrace, and one of our most despised champions everComment

Aye well said, I didn't read this until I made my own replyI disagree, I think it's just a role he plays in order to incite on-air debate and viewer engagement.
