Comments Thread For: Beterbiev: If Kovalev Wins - I'd Fight Him; Maybe Alvarez Too

The owner of the IBF light heavyweight title, undefeated Artur Beterbiev, is very interested in a potential showdown with compatriot Sergey Kovalev - if Kovalev is able to regain his world title in February. In the professional ranks, the 33-year-old Beterbiev scored 13 victories in 13 fights (all by knockout). On the ledger of the former WBO, IBF, WBA (Super) light heavyweight champion Kovalev, 35-years-old, is a record of 32 wins (28 knockouts) with three defeats and a draw.

Kovalev's confidence is by now shattered. I'll be very surprised if he gets back on track.

Ward taught him a lesson in that he never took in.

The problem with Kovalev is that he started off too fast against Alvarez and gassed in the second half of that fight. All I know is that he is beginning to have stamina issues now; Which started in the Andre Ward rematch and I don't know whether or not it can be corrected at the age 35 or not. Perhaps, it's too late now. However, if he can pace himself and conserve his energy throughout the fight, he just may have a chance against Eleider Alvarez in the rematch.
