Good hard fought win for Jacobs.
A lot was made about Derevyanchenko breathing with his mouth open, but he fought quite effectively through his tiredness. He also finished stronger than Jacobs.
Lampley and Lederman just can't comprehend what's going on in fights anymore.

If Jacobs would have lost this fight, it would have been his own fight. Every time he hurt Deverynchenko, he backed off of him. He just never listens to his corner. I know for a fact Canelo knocks him out and I'm not so sure he beats Charlo.
What fact is that? ??
Are you fuccing ******??

If Boxing were in trouble, it would be because fans are so bad at scoring fights and this board is a testament to that fact.
Pressure and work rate does not equal a winning round. Rounds are scored with clean and effective punching, effective aggression defense and ring generalship. Yes every one is going to have variations of what these things mean, but at it's simplest form clean stronger punches usually trump volume weaker punches, flashy combos trump the one shot power punches. Establishing that you are the aggressor is not just coming forward, It's getting inside of your opponents gate, pushing them back with aggressive forward movement, offensive pressure while taking limited shots back. It also encompasses trapping your opponent on the ropes and in the corners, while again "NOT" taking many shots in return. Ring generalship is controlling where most of the fight happens, the ability to move when and where you want, and fight when and where you want. The ability to get to any space/distance, and the ability to turn your opponent and set traps, with out taking much damage.
These are the reasons Jacobs won the fight. Any of you who watched this fight from a broadcast where you had premier and ideal angles to see exactly what was happening, exactly what punches were landing and missing, if you have Derevyanchenko winning is proof that you cannot score a fight. Missing shots and getting picked off on his way in is not effective aggression. Inability to cut off the ring and stop Jacobs from going and fighting where ever he wanted is not effective aggression. Landing a ridiculously low percentage of your shots is not an effective work rate.
Understand that judges can only see fights on one angle, so where two judges ultimately see missing shots, one judge sees a high work rate and is unable to tell if shots are landing based on where the fighters, and ref are standing. This is more than likely what happened to Julie Lederman, as she has been one of the better judges of recent times, and she is usually in line with here fellow judges on fights that are easy to score, just like this one was. Unbelievable to me that anyone would have Derevyanchenko winning, especially if they watched the broad cast.
Jacobs won 7 rounds clearly, Derevyanchenko won 4 clearly, and 1 round was so close it could have gone either way. For me any score card from 115-112 to 116-111 for Jacobs is acceptable. Anything closer is quite frankly a failure of proper judging. I just checked multiple Boxing web sites and couldn't find a single one that had SD winning, and I only found one so far that scored it closer than 115-112 Jacobs. Easy fight to score.

I mostly agree, good post !

pretty much went exactly as I picked it
Jacobs winning a TOUGH fight by UD/SD
I even picked that he would knock Derevyanchenko down
only thing I got wrong is, I said he may have to climb off the floor himself
