Do you think Crawford could have gotten 3 mill a fight guaranteed from PBC?

If so, did he take the easy road staying with TR knowing there is literally nobody around his weight that looks viable as an opponent for at least a few years?

Ramirez may be a guy in another 18 months or so if he moves up but otherwise I cant think of ONE single opponent I wanna see Crawford fight except Lomachenko but that's never gonna happen because of the size difference IMO...

He wouldn't have got a guaranteed $3m from PBC, but if he handled his business, Crawford and his camp could've possibly seen more than that.

A thought experiment; Crawford is WBO champion, Crawford/BoMac paid and did whatever they had to do to close out the deal, and Crawford crosses the street. With the Benevidez mandatory out of the way, it'd make the most sense to have Crawford-Danny Garcia be the first big fight (Bud Crawford Promotions and DSG Promotions, in association with DiBella Entertainment, presented from Barclays Center; money split 50/50, with Crawford seeing the back-end for the first time).

He makes it through that fight with a win, and we could then have Crawford fight in Omaha (Bud Crawford Promotions, in association with Warriors Boxing, presents from Omaha; Bud/BoMac get a share of every dollar that gets made on the fight).

Tick over the WBO mandatory after that, and Crawford is likely looking at the Spence-Porter winner, Keith Thurman, or a token fight against Pacquiao or Brook-Khan winner (or simply Amir Khan if he keeps avoiding his splattering by a fellow Brit in Britain). Again, Crawford would get a piece of everything (with the fight being PPV).

There's risk in the opponents, and he's likely not going to be on a pace to fight every three months, but that slate (Garcia, a Berto level guy at home, WBO mandatory at home, Spence or Thurman unification on PPV) and he's likely comfortably seeing $10m+ over those 16-18 months, while being positioned to make $10m+ per fight if the skills back him up and he wins out.

He gets beat by Danny Garcia, in a good fight, and there's still a path for him to get back to the money with (though an admittedly longer path).

Yes. He and his team would be fielding offers from TR, DAZN and PBC. PBC might not have paid him that much but DAZN almost surely would because the cache of having Canelo, Crawford and Joshua would be awesome.

He earned $3.5M to fight a B-level opponent. I don't think Thurman, Porter, Spence or Garcia have broken $2M yet. Bud probably feels that a fight with one or more PBC fighters is inevitable so long as he holds a major title. Unfortunately, corrupt sanctioning bodies each have their own suspect rankings that for some reason don't include other top tier fighters.

Bud can still get a big money fight against Khan or Brook, especially if he is willing to fight in the U.K.

Yeah but what do those fights do for him at this point? Both those guys are looked at as damaged goods. Maybe if those 2 fought each other finally, the winner comes out looking like a name again who knows.

Every champion at 147 is getting at least 3 Mil per fight from Haymon.

Regardless of what is actually reported. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more like 5 Mil lol.

Yeah all that could certainly be possible but I guess the allure of a guarentee purse regardless of quality of opponent clearly wins out in this scenario

How much do you think Maidana made off those 2 fights against Floyd?

Now compare that to what was reported to the commission....I'll give you a hint - Maidana hasn't fought ever since.

I would have to ask what does fighting Mikey Garcia or Luis Collazo do for Spence? All that talent in-house and no talks of Porter or Thurman to unify. Haymon wants as many champions as possible, so unifying doesn't appear to be in his best interest. Thurman is holding onto his WBA title like the Pope, and It will be awhile before either Porter or Garcia get a rematch with him.

Part of the problem for Crawford is that he just isn't a big draw and certainly not a PPV attraction despite solid ratings on ESPN for his last fight. So the risk is too high for the reward at PBC to pit any of their fighters against him.
